I went down to Red River Gorge in east KY this past Friday and Sunday.
It was pretty hot and muggy, so I wasnt expecting a whole lot. Heres a few pictures from the trip.

First, some scenery shots.

It was quite a climb to the top, but this made it worth it.

This is Nada Tunnel right before you enter the gorge. Its one-lane and you cant tell if a car is coming through until you pull all the way up to it. If there is a car coming, you have to back up 75-100 ft until the road widens enough for two cars so the other car can exit the tunnel.

Another great view.

First copperhead of the trip. I only got this one shot before he disappeared into the brush.

By far the most disappointing moment of the trip. From what I hear, timbers arent too common in the gorge.
This DOR was probably less than 20-30 minutes old. The rattles were still on it, so it wasnt hit by some
idiot who kills them for bragging rights...

A few water snakes.

This is what you get for catching a watersnake when he's trying to go down a hole.

Heres a copperhead and garter snake I found sharing the same piece of tin.

I took several photos of the other copperheads I found, as they were what I was looking for.
Heres a few of them...

Anyways, thats the gist of the trip. Also not pictured were five million other watersnakes and a ringneck,
plus DOR ratsnakes, racers, and copperheads.

Great pics (except the unfortunate road kill). Looks like you had a blast! :)
