Is just a project of a slick advertisement team and may now bee coming to the end of his time in the spotlight. how many of you out there knew that he caught the venomous snakes then loaded them into a fridge to cool them down and make them sluggish so he could manipulate them easier? and there is evidence as he was caught out by an australian news crew who actually filmed him doing it. aired in australia a couple of months ago. for true action has anyone heard or see ROB BREDL THE BAREFOOT BUSHMAN,
Screw that Cobraman is all I need to make me happy!
huh, are you sure its not just a buncha crap? I personally think that the croc hunter is the greatest.

I've heard that before of other animal show people (Kratt Bros, Jeff Corwin). Who know's if it's true, and who cares. He's not making the show to show how to get a bite, but to show us how beautiful animals are. And also to teach us about them. If he does do that I wouldn't blame him!! Some of those snakes pack a punch!! And no I have never heard of that bushman guy.

Cobraman I do not know.
Crocodilehunter is nice to look at but most of it is organized, I think.
I love Mark O´Shea the most. He is the craziest (http://www.nationalgeographic.ca/features_oshea.asp)

Someone should send Steve-o an invitation to join our little community. He'd be able to put an end to the rumors.
that is a great idea, anyone know his email??? lol, who the heck is cobraman???

Thats complete BS
steves life and work revolves around animal welfare.
hes renowned for his substantial work with reptiles of all different spiecies.
as ive said before.. Anyone who bashes him is just jealous.
C'mon now... He has a nack for this sort of thing. How many guys do you know that can climb a huge tree with no effort whatsoever, or even climb a mountain bare handed with no straps? I guess he faked that too then?? Tsk tsk........
Steve O is great. he is the modern real life Tarzan.
Jeff corwin is cool too. I dont like oshea.

Steve has recieved an invite a couple of times!..the reciept of my messages was sent to me,so i know he got them but i never had a reply!..i guess we are not important enough or cant pay him enough money.
When you cant even send a reply saying .."no sorry not interested"...then there is something wrong !

The thing that might be wrong is the fact that he probably gets about 6000 emails a week. If he spends even 10 seconds reading and 10 seconds replying to each one, he has spent 2000 minutes or 33 hours replying to email...... I don't know many people that have 33 free hours a week to catch up on their emails.
It would be cool if he joined though

I remember an episode when they "found" a black headed python in a dead tree, they already knew she was a female...
and she didnt do a thing when Terry picked her up... !! (wild ??? I dont think so...)
How are they supposed to know it is a female if they just found her???
Like most of the snakes and lizards they found I THINK it is mostly captive... and put there so we can think its a wild one..
But Anyway ! I still like him, he makes me laugh :D
And He still shows us the most beautifull animals on earth :D
I like his passion for reptiles and how he is showing it to us.
Either way you look at it, his show is Entertaining and Very informative. He's really out there getting the point across to many people that reptiles aren't bad. I know many people that were afraid of my house cause i have snakes and lizards but since they started watching his show, they want to come around and see and even hold some of my animals.

Very well put, inked. I think everyone has to at least grant him that.
Like him or not, I think you can trust he would never put an animal in danger on his show. How he gets the shots of him with the animals may be under question, but I'm sure they have a budget and can't spend two weeks in the bush and get no usable footage. Cheers to Steve!!!!
I should try to check out the other people you guys have listed...

One thing seems to be missed by the "he plants the animals" and "he cools them down" people. How does he "cool down" 16ft crocs????? The ones that he rescues... the ones he travels days to get to??? The ones out in the middle of nowhere...
Steve Irwin has done more for the "preservation" of reptiles than everyone of us, using these forums, put together! He only breeds for conservation, NOT PROFIT! I'll eat my hat if I ever hear the term "STEVE IRWIN BLOODLINE".
Also, I was watching another reptile show where they ran into Steve out in the bush. He agreed to do a commercial for them. He was holding a semi-venomous green snake (??) This thing tagged him about 20 times. The other guys were in awe that he never stopped trying to tape the commercial. His hand started to swell like a balloon. His reason for doing this??? The other guys "do a great job trying to inform kids on the treatment of reptiles, and for this Steve got tagged, BIG TIME.
just my opinion........

Good point! I don't think you can "cool down" a wild croc.

Probably a part of his show (it is a show - not a serious nature program) is for real and partly fake.
His enthousiasm makes reptiles a little bit more understood by his viewers. And when this leads to f.e. a farmer that does not kill the snake he finds, but let´s it go, than the show was worth it.
I give him some credit because he means well.
But I think he also likes to make as much money with it as he can.
But who wouldn´t?

in the end.........

in regards to steve not coming here because he wouldnt be paid? what a crock man!
the guy is obviously busy.. not everyone sits on a computer.
hes so much of a bush boy i dont think hed even know how to use one.
you know his movie he made? every cent from that and his show goes to his zoo.. so i wouldnt go by saying hes personally wealthy. his zoo is, i dont believe he is. (being the owner of the zoo he is, but you get the picture)

Whether Steve cools some of the critters or not, he is still one of my number one idles. That man is the greatest. Not only has he shown that snakes and crocs are not horrible monsters, but beautiful creatures that deserve respect and deserve to live. The snakes he uses are not venomoids, venomoids are for cowards, and if anyone should even doubt that they are all real, take a look at how many times the red spitter got him in Africa!
Before I could never get ppl to even hear me out when I rescued a snake, now ppl are curious because they saw that "crazy croc hunter dude on tv". I thank him for what he has done and I know he will continue to help for years to come. :)
"I'll eat my hat if I ever hear the term "STEVE IRWIN BLOODLINE"" LOL, I would freak, would the higest bidders please stand up. :p

Hydro, really you have no idea what you are talking about... Steve Irwin is a millionaire and he isnt as much of a "bush boy" as you think. He was on oprah talking about how he loves computers and everything else. Preach what you know not what you think you know. Of course on every show hes going to plug his zoo, but you think hes not going home at the end of the day to at least a 500k house... your dreaming.

First of all let me say that i to think he has done great things in the areas of conservation, and also has helped to dispell many of the myths that surounded reptiles for a very long time.He has more energy than any one person i have ever seen..and works very hard at what he does.I was just a little thrown back because out of the 6 or so emails not one reply..but there were reciepts sent..but when i think about it...i dont think he stays in one place very long..so in time he may reply,Lets hope!
I'd love to have him come here and share a few things with the members of this site,im sure everyone would enjoy it!and so would i.
As far as YOU go hydro..everyone has an opinion here, and it seems you like to single others out for thiers!no matter what the circumstances..you imply quite a bit! aparenty all i do is sit behind a computer all day..not said!,,but implied!
You also bashed one of our other moderators for suporting animal cruelty..and bashing a moderator will not be taken lightly!
Of all people you acuse for this ..LINDS!!..WAKE UP!!..she is the furthest thing from an animal abuser there is .
The ice beneath your feet is about to break!...hope ya can swim!!!

I think the real point here, is that he is not "harming" any of the snakes in his shoots.
Whether he cools them or not, that isn't mistreating an animal.
Anyone ever gone to an expo in the middle of fall or winter and held a "supposedly" nasty species, that was as tame as a kitty, and then once bought and brought home and warmed up, was as nasty as a u know what?
Well, then u just purchased an animal that has been cooled.
Maybe not on purpose, but should snakes really be taken out from a heating source for the day, to make a sale??? to YOU??
I'm sure Steve, has a special fridge with special temperatures, and keeps them in there for a proper amount of time.
Now he has Always been about NOT using tranqualizers, with crocs, etc...
So cooling them in my mind is the much friendlier way to be able to spread the knowledge to the viewers....
Sometimes, the most natural way cannot be taken....
Would any of u like to try and wrestle an endangered bear or tiger to tag em so they can be monitored and protected?

All the money he earns goes to the zoo, I read.
But that zoo gets so many visitors every year. They earn enough money by selling tickets and make some nice profit too.
I am co-founder and secretary/webturtle of Europe´s largest Reptile Zoo Reptielenzoo Iguana Vlissingen (http://www.iguana.nl) , so I know something about that. We would wish we had 10 % of the visitors Steve´s zoo gets yearly. I guess they have over 1 million visitors every year.
o>
of course he makes money, but most of it goes to his zoo.
yes hes rich. but look at what he HAS done for animals.
in the above, hydro was not implying you sit on your computer, i wouldnt take things so harshly.
he was making fun of steve more than anything.

I personally don't beleive these rumors. I think the guy is the greatest (I even named my Lizard after him). I think the t.v. show is legit. I beleive that they most likely do bring in a captive with them occassionally and make it look like it is in the wild but it is all for our benefit. The man is trying to educate the world about reptiles and show people that they aren't animals that should be feared but loved. This is the same man who picked up a Mojave Rattlesnake up off the ground and let it curl up in his hands. Even if they prove that he was cooling the animals down I wouldn't care and would continue to watch him every Wednesday night like I always do. I do think he should stick to his t.v. show and not acting.

I've seen that movie. Steve was the best actor (if you consider him playing himself to be acting) in the whole movie!!! The scenes with the "professional" actors were just awful!!!
I always told people, if you like the show, you'll like the movie.... except for the stupid CIA agent parts and the old aussie lady and her farm. PEEEEEE-YEW!!!
It did have some nice shots of snakes though.

hey nothing like dissing peoples idles to get a decent heated debate going hey? anyway ive seen the footage of the snake cooling fridge and what not, and yes it is very closely monitored and i actually like steve,
bloody buttons are too small, as i was going to say he looks like an amature compared to ROB BREDL, who actually started the worlds first crocodile conservation programme with his father. his programme killer instinct is just wild this guy will blow you away. he free handles the inland taipan to explode the myth about the name fierce snake, also the BREDL'S PYTHON is named after his father, please try to see this tv programme and post your remarks as you wont be dissapointed he is awsome, and he definately makes steve irwin look like an amature. Mark O'Shea rules (i have to say it i know him personally)
