I was awakened this morning to my parents yelling at me tha Farkus was escaping! When i got to her the damage was already sone, alot of her scales on her back are chewed up pretty good, and there are alot of dents along her back. she is not bleeding, and her spinalchord is still intact as she is still active, and can still move every part of her body, im gong to put bactroban on the scrapes, and move her to a smaller enclosure, is there anything else i should do?Please help

Thats about it, smaller enclosure (escape proof!) paper towel (or news paper, paper towel if she has a wound on her belly) 2 hides (hot side cool side, don't forget to move the digi thermometer so you can watch the temps) and water.

Whenever any of my animals get a cut I use neosporin (non medicated) original. When I got my blood he had some brown scales (I assumed scale rot) on his tail, I used it and it was gone within 2 wks, then he shed.

I'm sure someone with more expierence can help you better. Fine out how he was able to push the lid up in his cage to get out and fix it. Might want to find out what he scratched himself on and figure out if the reason he is bleeding is because of a scratch on his belly, or because something stabbed him there!

Good luck!

She pushed up the lib on her rubbermaid, and it scraped her, i dont know what the belly wound is, could it be a broken rib?

I don't know, I'm not a vet. But if you think it is really serious like that then get him to a vet asasp.

With regards to the Polysporin issue, use the 'Original Polysporin antibiotic ointment Heal-Fast Formula" it comes in a 30g tube and is green and yellow. This will provent infection and aid in faster healing. Remember, ointment, not cream.

Snakehunter, the basic setup for a hospital tank is an extremely clean environment - no decorations and nothing that is not mandatory for its health (ie. water bowl). Make sure you clean everything thoroughly, such as the water bowl and hides, before putting her into the hospital tank. Treat the injuries with a topical antibacterial ointment, as recommended. Unless you have fifty pound weights on your rubbermaid, I doubt that lifting a lid would break a rib. If your worried, gently feel the area for any abnormalities.

thanx, the bactroban is actually like neo/polysporin on steroids, its a perscription antibiotic for severly infected wounds. If you have a doc that you are good friends with ask for a perscription, it will clearthings up in NO TIME, i got rid of dermatitus on a snake in about a week and a half, this stuff is insanly awesome

Snakehunter, are you using the Bactroban cream or ointment? Just curious.
