Hi Andrea,
I am not too sure. Jason gave me the name I have the information coming to me shortly I will have a looksy...
Everything is looking very positive for a good show. I have an AD going into the papers shortly. I don’t think there is anything more scarier than putting on one of these shows; you have obstacles in your way .. all the way.. It gives me a new found appreciation for people who put theses shows on. Its not as easy as it looks.. Anyway I expect the worst and hope for the best..

I can't wait, I'm super excited! :) It'll be great to meet a bunch of the herpers from out here that I haven't met yet... and chat with the ones that I have ;) Don't know how much spending money I'll have, but it should be a great time anyways!
See everyone there :)

I am really psyched for this and can't wait!!!
None of my friends keep any herps, but 3 have already told me that they want to come even though it's all the way in Abbotsford.
This will be my first reptile show and I'm really looking forward to seeing a lot of types of herps for the first time up close. Also, if anyone here has ackies or a gtp with a lot of blue colouring, please bring it to the show!!! I am definitely looking to get either one of these in the near future, possibly right at the show so hit me up if you want to make a sale!!!

Whoo, it's only a week away now!!!
I'm going to have to setup a bunch of enclosures this week, as I know I'm going to end up buying up lots of stuff. If you see a 5'10" asian dude walking around, try not to sell him too much stuff, LOL!!!

Hello everyone ~ WOW - CityTV was great today. The hours sucked getting up at 3:45am but it was worth it. We had a great time and Miranda went on instead of me. She was awesome holding her Yellow Anaconda. Henry was refered to as the Canadian Crodile Hunter which (of course) emarrassed the hell out of him. He brought the big Female Tortoise that decided to deficate from the minute she got there to minute we left. Henry had some baby Green Tree Pythons along with his great big Blood Python and the Albino Ball Python. It was awesome and we had lots of fun doing it.
Side note: 1) Wed - June 30, 2004 - Henry will be on the Radio morning Talk show on StarFM 107.1 FM. Our ads start tomorrow for the reptile show.
2) We have been invited to the Abbotsford Sunlight PlayDay July 1, 2004 - Abbotsford Exhibition Park from 12:00 - 6:00. 15,000 people attended last year. We will have a great display there in an excellent location to promote the REPTILE Show and Sale. We will be giving away some Children's Pass for the Show. As well as giving away a Family Pass with every membership that is applied for. If you are around and about come out and visit us.. or else see you on Saturday ..

Terri and Henry....
You guys have done an EXCELLENT job of promoting this show/sale!! I am REALLY looking forward to going! Several people commented about Henry's appearance on the Breakfast TV and it seems it was a great success! I've been telling everyone I know to go to the show and most people seem pretty excited about checking it out! I'm sure it's going to be a great success! Way to go guys! I know it's a lot of hard work to promote this sort of thing and especially with the type of animals that will be there, I'm sure it was even more difficult... but I think it will pay off really well! :)
See you there!!

And it seems that you guys have done a truly amazing job promoting it - way to go, all the hard work will pay off I'm sure.

just got back from the herp show and brought home with me a beautiful little female BP.:) id never been to a herp show before and i must say it was great. ill be back there tomorrow!!
Mmm... I went on Saturday and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, the friend that I brought along who drove had to go early, so I didn't get to stay very long. I did enjoy meeting Henry Piorun, Annie. B, and Walter Pacholko (who I bought a nice little baby Sav from). I talked to a lot of other people too as I made a round of the place, but am just clueluess who they were! All the monitor lizards were making me drool, LOL. I just wish there had been red ackies there as well. It was also my first time seeing GTP's in the flesh and they're even nicer than I thought!!!
Anyway, great show, I just wish I had more time there. I could have easily spent 3x as long oogling all the great herps!!! Next time I'm taking my own car :P

WOO!! Good show, great show. Worth the trip from Kamloops. I got a nice fire crestie from Beth Wallbank, pictuses from Geckoguy and Tim/Julie B, and a het for who-knows-what leopard gecko also from Geckoguy (Braydon). And some feeders from Walter. I gotta say, good quality on animals and also to Walter, I've never seen such plump and juicy, healthy looking superworms in 4 years.
Lots of cool stuff there including Jackson's chameleons, humungous tinctorius arrow frogs, and some nice ETPs, lots of cool geckos too.
Good stuff.

David and I would really like to congratulate Henry, Terri, Jason and Leona for putting on such a great show and all the effort (and money!!) put into advertising really paid off. It was great to have all our friends from Alberta here to support the first show as well. I bet next year's show is already in the planning stage!!
Well done everyone.....Andrea.

Yeah, Bonnie P. - can you beleive Terri served dinner to all the vendors - wow, now that is really cool.
I can see a friendly competition will start to emerge to see who can do more to improve the shows. I think Walter should do fire dancing - or hang heavy stuff off peircings.

Henry and Terri...
What can I say that hasn't already been said? Absolutely FABULOUS show! I loved meeting everyone... old friends... new friends... there was so much to learn and see and DO there! I was absolutely floored that Terri actually made lunch for all the vendors! The signs were VERY visible and easy to read!
It was incredible to see the excitement and interest from all the "guests!" Everyone from the littlest kids to the adults were thrilled with all the tables and displays. What a wonderful sight to see all those people so interested in learning more about our wonderful reptiles, and various other "critters."
I could go on and on... but suffice to say this show is hands down THE best Reptile/Insect show I have ever had the priviledge of attending!
Kudos to Henry and Terri for all the hard work (and MONEY!) they (and all the others) put in to make this show an incredible success! Put me down for next year's show! I can't WAIT! If anything... it's gonna be bigger and better!
Take care

To state the obvious, the show was wonderful. You guys put on a slammer! Next year Tim and I will take 2 tables. It was, as always, great to see all the little guys and girls wanting to hold everything. A few adults even got the courage to hold a corn at our table which led to wanting to hold a larger ball python. Too cool:D We had a blast and it was great to see the Albertans too, as we don't get to often enough. ahhh You guys are really sweet :-) ~~~
So I am going to ask your expert opinion. I have an option of taking the same AgriGaller 44x78 or the Cadet Building which is 90x70 I could get 60-70 tables in there. Henry says stay where I was but I only get 38 tables in there? What do you think I should do. One of the set backs to taking the bigger building besides being more $$ is that we would not be able to get in there until 6:00 am Saturday morning which I think still gives ample time to setup. Or .. do I stick to the smaller building and set up that Friday Night? .. hmmm just asking for your expert opinions.. thanks guys
so do I stay the same? or go a little bigger??
Terri
Try one more year at the same place. If that goes well go to the bigger building. JMHO
annieb_mice
07-09-04, 12:00 AM
Personally... check and see who is going to be coming next year.... and if there is a significant increase in the number of tables needed, then go with the bigger one. If not... stay with the smaller one. :)
How soon do you need to reserve the building?
Take care
Annie B. <:3 )~~
TPiorun
07-09-04, 07:32 AM
Well I already have the same building reserved. The larger building is a hassle cause its Canada Day on the Friday making it impossible to get into that lower building (because of the Fireworks) that Friday evening. I think I will just sit tight and stay where we are for another year. So... onward and upward.. next Show July 2-3, 2005 same place.

I agree. Abbotsford is just a bit on the far side. Most people who aren't avid herpers are unlikely to drive all that way. The eastern end of Burnaby or Surrey I think would be a reasonable compromise; it's a quick enough drive for people in the Fraser Valley yet not so far out that makes it difficult for people from Vancouver to get there. Somewhere near a skytrain station would be ideal in my opinion.

Thank you for the kind words but you know, Bunches is one big thick leopard gecko...lol...
My opinion on the move is: Stay Put until the demand for more tables is at least another 30 - 50% more, no point in going bigger if half, or more, of the tables are going to be emtpy. We already know those show get bad reps for not being able to fill their tables, people don't like them, they want them jam packed so they can spend more money. haha
As for you Vancouver whiners :D it wouldn't do to call it the Fraser Valley Herp Society and then hold the shows in Vancouver, sheesh! People in Edmonton will drive three hours to attend the Calgary shows and vice versa, and then they still have to drive home again. If they want to attend, they will come.:p

Tell you what .. you put a show on and we will come and attend your show. Sorry but Surrey?.. yeah right with their by laws I wouldn’t be caught dead doing a reptile show there.
Burnaby? WPSCR is already doing a show there.
No I am quite happy to do my little show in the Fraser Valley I know what I am doing and I know what I am up against.
Now I have discussed with other about doing a show in Granville Island. Just have not pursued that avenue yet. But.. I am thinking about it .. if I had a good venue.. maybe in time..

Easier axcess = more money (hopefully). I didn't even know they had portable Atm's until Julie convinced (dragged) me to go to a craft fair and there was a little trailer with an ATM in it just outside the venue. Pretty cool idea. I think the company was West Coast Cash if that helps.

Sorry, I didn't realize there were bylaw issues with Surrey, nor that there'd be a WSPCR show in Burnaby (I thought they were throwing one in Richmond?). Pardon my ignorance, but I've only just moved back to Vancouver this summer and don't know too much about the local herp community.
I was just making a suggestion based on location alone. Since I think anyone who frequents these boards is probably an avid enough herper to have driven anywhere for the show, it would probably be difficult to find anyone here for which the distance was enough of an issue to not go to the show. However, I wouldn't be surprised if there were quite a few people who heard about the show, were interested, but decided not to go due to it being in Abbotsford. There's also the issue of unfamiliarity, as many people have never been to Abbotsford, and don't even know where it is exactly, but only that it's outside Greater Vancouver. I know I had a lot of trouble talking my buddies into coming with me (whose admission fees I incidentally paid for), only to have them urge me to leave early so that they would have enough time to make it back to Vancouver for their Saturday night plans in case traffic conditions were poor. Of course, this was just my personal situation and I have no idea how many other people (if anyone at all) were in a similar boat.
Anyway, I just wanted to point out some of the advantages of having a show closer to Vancouver. Either way, it was a terrific show and well worth the drive. I will definitely be there next year, just without my buddies.
