ive been looking at the posts on this site and i have a good idea on how to get started. i just have a few questions. im planning on bulding a 4x2x2 but split it horizontally so i can house 2 BP's. my question is is 1 foot hight enough room for them? i know there terrestrial but i dont know if they can feel crowded or anything. i assume itll be find but im just double checking. also instead of using glass is it possible to youse hardwear cloth. i know its not good for medium to large lizards but is it alright for a snake? i would be using the 1/4 inch stuff so the holes would be small. thanks for the imput. once i get this information i can start building:D

no, hardware cloth sucks for snakes, they can (and usually will) rub their nose on it and get sores and such. Use glass or plexi glass.
Only reason to use hardware cloth is to make a place for the lamp to sit. :)

thanks. ill look into plexiglass because its easy to use and cheap lol. how do u make the tracks it sits on? do u make them or can u buy them?
as for glass and plexiglass, glass is cheaper, at least in ontario it is. plexiglass can scratch very easily as well. For the tracks i just bought mine at home depot, i bought the ones for plaxi glass and used it with the glass i bought and there is no worries about anything. hope that helps

One foot in height is more than ample. Many of us use rubbermaids in racks, and the height of most if not all adult rubbermaids are only 6.25". You'll have to trouble with 1'. However, I can foresee trouble with your heating. If you have two 'levels' of balls, you'll have to put whatever heat source under the top one, hence on the ceiling of the bottom one. Could be tricky...

oh and you might want to put in a litter dam.......to keep all those ummm, running liquids in the cage, not running down the side of the cage.....
I remember a post I read in the cage forum, someone said they forgot to make a litter dam, and the first time someone pee'd in the cage, it ran down the side of the cage..........or something to that effect.......anyways...goodluck!

Too much ventilation with hardware cloth, and yes, 1 foot of height is PLENTY. For sure.
