Pics of your arboreal setups

Hey folks,

The old noodle is churning up some ideas for my JCP's final home. I would love to see what others have done for arboreal, so that I can shamelessly steal ideas. Post away ;)

I know what the requirements are, so lets not get into this part,
I am looking for construction detail only. different materials, etc...


btw tubs are not on the list..;)

lol, and hate to be a follower. But anyone using rubbermaids or anything else for aboreal setups, would love to see that as well. :) lol

I took some pics special for you guys. LOL. I have only one aboreal snake which is our GTP. Right now he lives in a 55L Sterilite tub until he gets big enough to move into his custom 100% acrylic enclosure. I wouldn't recommend Sterilite brand for snakes normally though, as the lids suck. Rubbermaid is better. ANYWAYS!

I just use dowels, closet rod pole holders to make the perches removable....the whole thing is a copy of young GTP enlcosures off Greg Maxwells website (http://finegtps.com/caging.htm) and is working very good so far. It holds humidity easily and could be changed for a JCP, or ATB. The first photo is of my temp probe on the hot spot. The second is just a shot of the full thing. (snake, perches, water dish and rock for shedding)

Here are some rubbermaids that I converted.. I now prefer the clear one as opposed to the blue ones.. Just better visibility..

I seen one time someone using a large garbage can! They had cut out a side, and put in plexi glass, drilled the holes, and cut out a part on the top for a light!

That is the sort of thing I am looking for a future GTP, but right now I want to house my 6' + JCP, so cruising room is needed.
Devon is coming the closest to the size I am looking for. Some thing for him to stretch his "legs". Thanks for the link and I love those Acrylic enclosures ;)

Devon, are those shower stall doors you are using? Can you explain the materials you used.

Hey, well no there not shower stalls, As far as I know it was a plexi glass cabinet . I have a friend who works at the local hospital, they were going too through it out, he picked it up too turn it into a solarium I gave him 20 bucks for it. It did have glass shelving which I removed (and used for glass sliding fronts on my boas cages). I replaced the bottom with a very simple 2x4 frame and droped in a sheet of plexi glass, and the top is wood with a hold cut out for a 100w lamp.

It has a wonderful heat gradient. The doors and all sides except one are plexi glass in an aluminum frame, the solid back piece is aluminum with ventilation slits. Sorry I can’t really help you more then that I sort of just got lucky in picking it up. I keep an eye out for those sorts of things encase I might need them. Right now it houses my pair of Prehensile tailed skinks.

Something we've used in the past on it's side was an actual shower stall, all pre fabricated. You could use it upright the same as a shower would be. The trick is to phone around and look for slightly damaged shower stalls, even at places like liquidation stores and what not. Even with a slight dent can often pick em up for cheap. Works well and is very sturdy and easy to keep clean.
