View Full Version : Beardie size at 5 Months
I am wanting a Bearded Dragon and today I called a lady that has some for sale. She said her babies were hatched Jan 1st and that they were about 5 to 6 inches long.
I've been doing some reasearch on Beardies and that seems awfully small to me at that age. Would their growth be permanently stunted? I'm thinking maybe I should pass on these and wait to get a Beardie elsewhere.

Is that nose to vent?
If so it sounds about right, mine was about 10-11" long at six months (with her tail though). And my cousin just purchased a hatchling that at 3 months is bigger than 5-6".
I wouldnt rush into anything, find one you're comfortable with. There will be many to choose from in the upcoming expos this summer
That was with the tail from what I understood her to say. It made me a bit
uncomfortable that she seemed irritated that I was asking questions about the size, color ect.... I think a breeder ought to be willing to answer a few questions about the animal that they are selling. Yep, I think I will wait. My new Beardie will hopefully be with me a long time so I think I will wait and get one that I am sure of.

wow, I would definately wait.
My lil guys hatched out May 17ish, and measure 5" head to tail.
A good breeder will most definately answer your questions :)

Wow it seems this person tried to hide something from you according to what you are saying.
I am sure you did the right choice by waiting a little bit.

my male beardie is 4 1/2 months, from head to tail he is about 13 1/2 inches. Mine seems bigger than normal but thats just to give you 1 more opinion

My male beardie was 16 inches long at 6 months... so that definitely sounds awfully small to me.
I think it was a good choice to wait, I would have. If she wasn't a friendly person to deal with I wouldn't buy a thing from her. Any good breeder will be willing, and will be happy, to answer any questions that you may have.

I think there might be a mistake there, maybe contact her and get that verified before making accusations. Also, it is a good possibility she estimated the size - often times estimations can be way off. Also, it might not be including the tail.
Sorry, didn't realize you asked already.
