Question

Hey all. I have a 7ft, 5 year old BRB. I have had her for 4 months, and up until now, she would eat a thawed jumbo rat every month. In the past couple weeks, she has refused to eat. She is obviously hungry, as she just shed and is very alert and active. I put in a thawed rat, and she came over and explored it, tongue flicking like a bugger, but will not eat. I also tried some mice, and same reaction...huge interest but no eating. She is in excellent health, non stressed and I have not changed anything in her routine / care.
I am stumped.

Any help would be great!

Wouldn't she then, be "obviously" NOT hungry?

They can skip meals. My adults do it all the time. Females of that age and size are usually gravid and not eating at this time of year anyways.

Well one would have thought, but she is usually quite lethargic when NOT hungry.

....So I thaw out a med rat and try again. Same thing. Open up the cage and figure a little wigglin the rat in front of her could'nt hurt. WHAM.

Ha ha women indeed man!!

Don't fret. The snake knows what its doing. Also though, at this time of year BRB cages can become TOO hot. Yes, too HOT! So make sure that it doesn't go above 88F on the warm side and 78-80F on the cool end. And keep humidity up. The snake will eat. No worries man.

Yessir, keeping my eye on the heat / humidity. As it gets warmer in the house from hot outside temps, the BRB's homes get warmer.

On a side note, I find BRB's have personality. A lot like ETB's!

Yes, just monitor the temps and keep at 'er. The females often refuse at this time of year for a few weeks/feedings. Its nothing. As long as they had good weight going in and it doesn't get too hot, you'll be gravy soon enough.
