Hockey sucks??? If you're living in Canada you should be deported just for saying that! And to show you how wrong you are about hockey we're sending you to some crappy place where all they play is soccer and you'll be forced to watch hour after agonizing, scoreless hour of it until you BEG for hockey! lol! That'll learn ya.

i agree with Cruciform.. the sooner hockey is over, the sooner I don't have to hear about it for another year :D
I was happy when the Leafs got their butts handed to them, but no, another canadian team just had to make it to the finals.. there is no escaping it.
i want to move to cuba.

Then move......
*sniff* just... one.. goal!! Thats all we needed and the cup would of been ours! It might be more difficult playing in tampa, and this time we had the fun advantage of elavation causing problems for tampa. Drat!

Its not a matter of "bandwagon" jumping .... its supporting your country.. Yes both teams have a bunch of canadians, euros, and unfortunately a few americans .... but by Calgary making it to the cup against ALL odds must show something. I am a dedicated leafs fan, but when they got booted out ... I cheered for Calgary. Though I have been watching calgary playoffs since the begining against vancouver, I am a dedicated leafs fan. Call it what you want, but I dont see anything wrong with supporting your countries teams ...unless its Ottawa .... I hate when true canadian hockey fans (a leafs fan, or oilers fan etc) start to instantly sport hats, jerseys etc of an american team.... Thats Bandwagon jumping.. Call it my double standard if you wish.... Bottom line - I enjoy hockey, my team got booted out in the second round, so I routed for Calgary.... I dont have hats, jerseys, or anything else other than the blue and white, but I enjoy the game ...whats wrong with that

I'm not sure if everyone saw the re-play of the chance Calgary had at the end of the third, but I saw it this morning and the puck to me clearly crossed the goal line as Khabibulin's right toe dragged over the goal line with the puck crossing into the net...we weren't listening to the game so I don't know if they even went upstairs but if they did...(I got glasses they can have!!!) too bad....GAME 7 Flames 3 Bolts 2
But with five minutes left in the game it did appear Calgary had scored a third goal. A television replay appeared to show that Martin Gelinas pushed a puck dumped into the crease by Oleg Saprykin over the Tampa Bay goal-line.
The league said they found the video re-plays "inconclusive"...now I have to wonder How many camera angles did they check...?
that was taken from the CBC site today...sorry Calgary....:( :(

It's not just hockey that sucks either.
Football sucks.
Baseball sucks.
Basketball sucks.
They're not sports, they're mega-corporations that deal more with image, profits, and marketing than skill.
The players have all become greedy, spoiled children because of the attitude as well.
Then when a team wins people flood out into the street in that city screaming "We did it!" as though the heat generated by their collective asses on the couch somehow catapulted the local team to victory.

Last night was the second hockey game I watched. The other, was when they beat the last team, whoever they were - I had bet against Calgary.
The reason I watched last nights game (which I started in the 3rd period) wasn't for the sport, but more of a study of anthropology - to see how the game would be played when 1 goal by either team meant so much.
I was hoping for Calgary, cause I think Mark had his camera down on 17th again.
I guess my post on this site was a bit of an anthorpological study as well, and to get "under the skin" of my calgary friends - which is my favorite passtime.

Agreed :).. couldn't have said it better myself. Now, I have nothing against sports in general or those that play/watch them.. It's just getting all this sports crap rammed down my throat against my will.

The puck, in that replay, clearly did cross the line but they only had that one camera angle to prove it. The league rules state(I think) that you need to camera angles to prove the goal. There was only one and therefor it was not counted.
Hockey DOES NOT SUCK! I HATE to watch it. I havent even ever watched a WHOLE hockey game. But I play the game myself. I love to play it.
Im cheering for calgary because it would be nice to see the cup in canada again, but either way, I dont really care.

about the goal in question: when they replayed the view from directly above the net, you can clearly see that although habibulin's leg pad is covering the puck so you can't see it, you can tell that his pad is barely over line, obviously not leaving enough room for the puck to be across the line as well...I have been cheering for Calgary ever since they beat the sharks and will continue to do so
last night was so frustrating to watch because they were beaten to 99.9% of the loose pucks and were not hitting...it just seemed like they didn't want it as much as the bolts last night....they lost several loose puck battles

Nobody forced anything on you or "rammed any crap down your throat". You obviously chose to read and reply to this thread all on your own... numerous times.
Just as nobody forces you to live in Canada.
You're not a victim.

As far as football goes the CFL is ok. A lot of those guys have other jobs or work in the off season. Other than that I would pretty much agree.

The NHL playoffs go to game seven, Tampa Bay hosting Calgary. This is Canada vs USA, East vs West, Front Runner vs Cinderella Team, take your pick. I don't care who you cheer for. Game seven does not happen often, and neither does the rest. I hope you enjoy the game.

Isn't that what hockey is? Hour after hour of agonizing scorelessness? :D
I don't even like hockey. But I have watched more hockey in the last month then I have in over ten years combined. Why? A Canadian team actually has a shot. As a Canadian I will route for any Canadian team over an American one. Even if the players are from where ever. Besides I love visiting Calgary on the two times I get to a year (for reptile shows). I'll go with the conspiracy theory LOL We couldn't have 100,000 people partying in the streets on Saturday now could we? Despite goals that were called or not we don't even care. Even if the NHL gets their way & Calgary loses (not likely LOL) we will still have a bigger party than Tampa Bay has ever seen (or will ever see). Remember the FLAMES finished last the previous season, didn't make the playoffs & still were given a standing ovation despite the fact by their fans as they left the ice. No matter what happens CALGARY WILL ROCK LOUDER & PROUDER cause it ain't all about Hockey, its called HEART & we got the Biggest Baddest ones in the world. NUFF SAID Mark
P.S. whats Tampa having to hand out for free at the next game to get people to cheer for them LOL GFG
P.P.S. GFG also stands for GORGEOUS FAN GIRLS! LOL

To say that they are mega-corporations who make loads of money through profits and image, would be fair. However to say that the players have no skill is wrong.
Then when a team wins people flood out into the street in that city screaming "We did it!" as though the heat generated by their collective asses on the couch somehow catapulted the local team to victory.
I sometimes think something along the same lines, but obviously you are not a sports fan :P. It is for mere enjoyment of the sport that we celebrate wins, and cheer for certain teams. After all, it is our support which is getting and has got them to where they are.
