question about rubbermaid

well i drilled holes in one of my rubbermaids, but it turns out they are too big. they are 3/8 inches. so now i need something to cover/plug them up. anyone has any ideas of how i can securely cover them. one idea i had was covering them with duct tape. any other ideas would help. please post fast. thanks

I think for a quick fix ducttape on both sides should do.

In the future you should try a soldering iron for making holes it works great :)

What are you keeping in there that 3/8 is too large?

one of two things - baby milksnakes or baby hognoses.

i did think of another thing though, i was thinking maybe cover the holes with screen? that way i would still get the same ventilation, and when it gets bigger i can just take the s creen off

Hot gluing a strip of screening over the holes should work, yes. I've used screen on a rubbermaid lid for mealies and it worked out great

Buy a new rubbermaid, its like $3, probably the same cost as screen. That's why I love rubbermaids, they're dirt cheap!

You could also get some think gloves and some plastic, melt the plastic, and apply. :) or the screen thing would work as well. I usually try to either measure the snake agains the hole, or start small, and go bigger as needed :)

Or you could just get a new rubbermaid and save this one for a new animal

It would probably be cheaper too just pick up a new Rubbermaid. If you already have the screening that will work just fine.
And lastly if you have any snakes that can live with that size hole put them who happen too be in an appropriate cage, switch them .

yeah thats what im gonna do. i can get one that is like 32L x 17W x 12H for like 9$. thanks anyway for the suggestions.

Just get a hot glue gun from the dollar store, and fill the holes up..Then put smaller ones in.
I do that all the time to convert old snake boxes into egg boxes where I went only a couple holes...
Every herper needs a hot glue gun!
