Just wondering if anyone out there had any really good ones to share, I have been using the following for a short while now:

16 oz. Ed's Special breakfast (oatmeal style dried cereal with 20 whole grains mixed in it, not a processed product).
12 oz. Spirulina algae or Lake Klamath Algae
10 0z. Bee Pollen Granules
6 oz. Milled corn
6 oz. crushed Millet

Interestingly enough, I notice after my crickets have been on this diet a week to ten days many of them are turning a golden brown color (bee pollen ??) As far as water goes I provide my crix and worms with orange slices, potato, sweet potato, green leafy vegetables (not spinach), squash, carrots and apple slices.

Anyone else have any good ones? Homemade ideas tend to be far better than any of those you can buy I have found, far less chemical additives etc. which coukd harm your animals.

Personally I don't follow a recipe persay.

I house all my bugs on bran.

Worms get more than just bran for a substrate as they eat it more than crix do.

Worms get a mixture of: bran, cornmeal, oatmeal, and powdered milk.
Crix: just the bran as substrate

Both are fed a variety of things: green stuff ( stalks left over from lizard salads, like collards, dandelions, etc ), most veggies, fish food including shrimp pellets and flakes, whole grain cereal such as multigrain cheerios, instant mashed potato's, and whatever else I have on hand.

I make my own water stuffs, consisting of pureed greens, with water, and gelatin to make it solid.

i dont really have recipes either. i usually just give them some fruit and vegetables. also, i give them a little fish food(low in phosphorus). they also get this cricket food, but i dont know the name of it off the top of my head. its little green cubes though, and they smell really really good haha.

i take some fish flakes, rolled oats, and wheat germ and play around with it until i like the way it looks. i also try to keep a carrot in the bin. i use this for mealworms
