THX everyone & in reguards to "how hard to breed" EASY Same as all the other Colubrids. Keep them well maintained & brumate them proper & when introduced to each other wahla. Just as easy as Cornsnakes. The trick with GBs is establishing the babies. They suck LOL Most don't want to eat for upto 3 months after hatching. You can try scenting & force or assist feeding, but I find time is the almighty factor with them. I'm almost positive that in the wild that they don't eat until the next spring (if they make it). You get the odd ones that will eat from the getgo, but most don't want to eat for 2-3 months depending on how big their "yolkguts" are LOL It gets to the point where you are so frustrated with them & then all of a sudden they all decide to start feeding. When you contain 50 snakes with prey overnight & like 2 eat it can be disappointing DOH Anyhow once started they usually feed really well & there is no turning back. Its waiting for them to want to eat that is the problem LOL Mark

Did you use your other male at all this year?

Congrats on these. So this brings you to over 300 good eggs now? Wanna buy some cheap rubbermaids?

Ryan, ya I used both males with all 3 girls. I didn't actually see "Stubble Jumper" in action (thats the one pictured folks LOL) but obviously "Studley" or him is doing the "job". Second go round I may only expose him (SJ) to 2/3 girls to see if he officially proves his worth. I already know Studley's "good" as he fathered 6 clutches last year alone : ) Egg count is at 315 good ones so far. Just think you were laughing at how much rubbermaid I already had when you were here & yes I just might need more, DOH or I mean WOO HOO LOL Mark
P.S. Katt bleepity beep backatya Heh Heh : )

I did not recognize stuble jumper, much nicer in person - you need to learn how to take brighter pictures.

Yes, It is very hard to beleive you actually have to buy more rubbermaids. You must already have quite a stockpile of home made hides all saved already also.

Well folks I discovered something today that I 1/2 suspected & was waiting for an extra set of hands to confirm. Notice how fat SJ looks in his shed photo & how he never showed too much interest in breeding? Thats because it was HER prelay shed LOL She layed an egg in her waterdish today. She now has a nesting box & hopefully will dump the rest. Just goes to show one should always sex their snakes unless you are 100% positive. Both Ryan, Sheila & myself all went with what someone else said. I thought I had sexed it (guess not doh), but like I said I was beginning to think he was a she & then she confirmed it LOL I was wondering how "he" was getting so chubby despite not eating much Oh well this is actually a good thing. Now my male really has to live up to his name "Studley". 4 girlfriends, must be nice Heh Heh Mark

Too funny Mark - nice to know some of the experienced breeders get suprised by snakes that are not what they are supposed to be. Makes the rest of us feel better!

Congrats on the additional clutch! - lots of greybands this year,

Unfortunately the 3 girls that "she" was put with to breed didn't fertilize any of her eggs LOL Maybe a second clutch by Studley though. Mark
P.S. Ya Studley He the Man :p
