Hi everyone, well I'm trying too find out more about a veggie diet for my PTS. I would assume most veggie eating reptiles handle about the same thing, but I would like too know for sure what are good and what are bad veggies too feed. as of now I'm feeding Romaine lettuce , as a staple, there is always some in there (although they seem too be eating allot of live plants leaves in the cage).
Right now I make sure there is always good romaine lettuce available for them. As well I rotate through fruits, they love bananas , apples, mangos, oranges (sometimes), basically whatever fruit the supermarket has that's marked down because its over ripe. I put sometime beside oranges because somebody once told me that the citrus fruits should be avoided, and they only ever ate little bits of it once so I haven’t offered since.
I know not too feed broccoli, and cabbage, but I have a list basically that I’m un-sure of, so I’m going too just list some things and everybody can tell me what they know about each one. I would basically them put into 3 categories as follows>> should never feed. Only as a treat, and those that can be used as a staple.

Here’s the list.

Swiss chard, Leaf lettuce, Iceberg lettuce, spinach, Kale, beans (like green or yellow beans), citrus fruit (oranges, grapefruit, tangerines), carrots, dandelion greens, melons, cucumbers and squash,

That about covers it, I’ve heard squash should be added too their diet and I am about too do so, but I thought I’d through it in their any way too make sure.

thanks,
Devon

P.s, I realize there are sites out there with this info, but I prefer double check everything , especially when some sites are contradicting.

I am not sure what you mean about 3 catagorys or which in that list you think are good or bad, but let me say remove Iceberg Lettuce, and I believe citrus is hard on many reptiles and should be avoided but I may be wrong.

Try collard greens, mustard greens, peppers of different colors, parsnip.....those are just some more suggestions off the top of my head if you are looking for variety. Those I listed are all healthy foods for most vegetarian lizards.
