This is a perfect example of someone buying an animal having done NO research at all. Shame on you. Go out and buy a book on the captive husbandry of ball pythons and READ IT!!
For the sake of your snake, (whom I feel terribly sorry for at this point) feed your ball a frozen thawed or fresh killed rat whose body is no wider than the widest part of your ball, once every 5-7 days. That should keep him alive long enough for you to get your sh** together.

Hey mykee, I must say that was a very productive post . At least you did answer the question.
You are right though too many people do not do enough research before purchasing a snake. But its pointless too attack them after the fact. A simple, answer maybe suggest a few sites with good quality care sheets, you know, help rather then have another person stop asking questions because people prefer take shots at them rather then just help. It is possible this person is verifying something he read or just making sure he’s not feeding too much or too little. Asking how people learn. There’s nothing wrong with that.

johnf45069, try this care sheet, its a bit wordy but it's right off the ssnakess.com site, so it's good quality (people would pick it apart if it wasn’t) , Also you can go too google.com and search for ball python care, there are lots of sites out there.

A f/t prey item the size of the fattest part of your snakes body would be best, once a week. If it’s being really fussy and won’t eat maybe offer it a stunned or freshly killed mouse. Don’t worry too much if it doesn’t eat right away if you just got it. As long as it isn’t loosing weight.

Hope you continue too use ssnakess for your questions, there are many very helpful people in the forums
Good luck,
Devon

i didnt mean it like that . i know you should feed them a thawed or pre killed once a week, but i went to the pet store to buy some mice and he said that i should be feeding him more than one mouse and i just wanted your opinion on the subject. because i trust you guys more than pet store dude.

P.S. mykee you better learn your s***
because i dont apreciate it when i try to ask a question and get attacked

thanks for caresheet lostwithin

I better "learn my sh**"?????? HUH?
ANYWAYS, sorry I jumped the gun, it's just becoming all to common for people to buy the pet first and then figure out how to care for them later. BTW, I would offer a 1.5 foot hatchling food every 4-5 days, as opposed to once a week as previously mentioned. Better to get them started well, and then slow it down once they get more substantial.

It is understandable why mykee jumped on you. Everyone has to remember there is a person at the other end of these names, everyone has bad days.

Mykee knows what he is talking about, and is one of the members here that I have learned alot about bp care from.

(he may be a bit moody, but everyone has their days :) lol )

I talk to people almost every day and when I ask them something about the care of their snake they usually don't even know what I'm talking about.

If you take a search through the site then you will see what a common question you posted, and some people just get aggrivated that you can't simply buy a 10$ book, or look up caresheets online.

Try to get your snake on rats, as when it is an adult you will have to feed it large rats or like 8 mice, Which can get expensive.

Definately start your BP on rats. You could feed him several mice, but you might end up having one like mine that will only eat one food item and then they are done.
One mouse.... one rat....go with the rats. :D
And yes, Mykee can be moody and a bit.... how do I say this..... "direct" but he does "know his ****", listen to him.
