My female laid eggs one the 21st I saw her mate with the male, but now im thinking the eggs might be infertile, she hasn't laid any more eggs since then, they've been incubated at 84* give or take a little. I've heard that you can candle leo eggs and I took a flash light, it was like a small one its about 3 inches long and shown it on the egg, it had a sortof yellow hew but maybe that was the bits of perlite on it. I didn't see any pink though. There is no mold and they dont smell funny but they're still really small

One problem i've been having is keeping the perlite from being sopping wet, when ever I pick up the container its dripping with water. Could this have killed the eggs? This was the first time I tried to candle them. Im using a ten gallon aquarium with a submergable heater, and the water is dripping into the container,

I heard about using deli cups but I cant find any! The deli doesn't have them, first place I checked and I cant find any other place that has them.

Last question is perlite as good as vermiculite?

Any help is always appreciated.
Alex

well i here it can take up to 100 days to hatch them...i no nothing but maybe you shouldnt be able to sea anything really now...also did you put them in the incubator the exact way you found them???or did you slightly move them to the side or something?

You should notice pink veins when candling after about one week to 10 days. I have had many infertile eggs last the full incubation time without molding or smelling. They should take no nore than 65 days to hatch at the lowest temp, 100 days is way off. If you go to Safeway or Save-on they usually have deli cups in the bulk food section. When you use them make sure that you poke holes on the sides of the container, not the top. This allows for air circulation without water getting in. I have always used vermiculite and always will, never had any problems with it. I find perilite to either be too dry or too wet.
