Well , people work & go to school during the week and some also work Saturday...(many in retail etc)
Saturday is also a favourite day for shopping and for many other family activities, so that pretty much leaves Sunday as the best possible day for maximum attendance.

I'd like to see the ontario show go for a 2 day event... maybe a little less often, like say every 3 or 4 months instead of every 2.

How about every two months AND two days, I would go both, even if I had to pay twice.

The idea of a two day event is not new and has been tried with the past symposiums...
In todays fast paced busy world, the majority of people have a hard time justifying 2 days to attend herp events.
In addition to tying up an entire weekend, and putting regular responsibilites on hold, which just isn't possible for many,
multiple day events mean stay overs for out of towners, and this means hotel bills, and restaurant meals, which adds a great deal to the cost of attending.. All those factors become negatives in alot of peoples minds.
I think we'll all agree that 5 bucks to get in is a good deal, but how bout a hundred extra plus meals for a hotel room, in order to attend the second day??
In addition to that what do you do with the animals?
If you're talking a two day event, the animals must be secured, heated, and in some cases fed and watered for an overnight stay.. Not all venues will allow animals on the premises overnight, and even if so, adequate security would be essential, and that would come with a cost.
This becomes an additional complication and worry for both vendors and customers, especially for out of towners, who can't easily run home to drop off their new acquisitions.
It's true this type of thing is done in the US, but it is expensive, and not without complications. There are tons of stories about animals loose in hotel rooms, thefts, and stuff getting baked in peoples cars.

I think a one day event fairly regularily is just right!

No one said that every single person would come both days. Just having the event so anyone can go either day or both if they wish would be good. This would be good because people as if people were busy one day, then the they could attend the other.

I don't think a customer would come both days. Why would they? Same animals, same vendors, same everything, ha ha!

But it does create a small problem. No one buys anything on the first day because they wait for the 2nd day which brings huge price drops from breeders that can't house and feed a bunch of babies and are using the show to unload them all.

I agree with Stockwell and Jeff.
I think a two day event would be more of a hassle and more expensive more so for the vendors attending than the customers. I don't see how it would affect the customers in a bad way at all, they just pick and choose which day to come or maybe even both. I myself would never be a vendor for two days at a far distant show...maybe once in a blue moon?? But definently not on a regular basis, too many expenses and such. I'm actually more worried with my reptiles being in an uncomfortable deli cup, without food/water than the expenses involved in the two day event.

Meow:
I think that if shows were held every month that it would most likely get "played out" and boring. Having shows every couple months or even few months, brings in a bigger crowd and is more enjoyable...in my opinion anyways.

Throughout the history of Canadian herpetoculture the shows and expos have been on Sundays. I am sure Saturdays would work too but why recreate the wheel LOL. ITs a great day no matter which day of the week it falls on but Sundays work best for most of us vendors that have retail stores.

Sunday June 13th is the next one by the way in which I am sure you know LOL

I have never been to a herp show. There's one a few hours from me that's put on every couple of months, but it's ONLY on saturdays. I work every single saturday. If it was on sunday I would be there every time.
Hell, I think I'll go to the next Lee Watson's swap when it falls on a sunday again. I'd probably enjoy it much more since I have lots of friends that go there. It'd be well worth the drive to Illinois.
