Hey all:),
A few days back a few friends of mine and I decided to form T.A.A.C( teens against animal crulty), Our basic misson is to first educate people on reptiles( since people only protect what they understand), to motivate and encourage other kids and teens that they too can make a difference by standing up and fightening for animal rights, no matter how big the difference they make is and also to write letters and petitions to goerment officials on matter which we think should be adressed( for example our current mission right now is getting lots of people from our school and community to write proffesional letters to officials about raising the punishment for people who abuse animals). We don;t think it'll do much but at leats its a start anyways, since were new to the whole thing and we've never done reptile shows or petitons and so on, we were hoping that some of you guys that have done this sorta thing befor could give us some helpful pointers or tips. If all goes well we are planning on doing our first show by late augest and then next year to vist various elementry schools and other places to educate and also plan on setting up a headqauters at school were kids from our school can get involved( however we are not limmited to just our school we have a few members from other places as well).
Also once the website is done will post it and maybe u guys can give us some feed back
Thx alot

Kayla:)

Congrats! Good luck with the idea. I can't really help much on the education bit as I've only just started as well, but good luck. It's a good cause.

Heh, Kayla, you and Nicky need to come by and educate my dad about snakes so I can get one. It's a good idea, a good way to get people informed. Good luck with it.

Sure... they "let" me have them. Frankly they only know about 10 of them. :P If they knew what else I had, than I would undoubtedly be homeless. :P, Oh, by the way Kayla, where has Nicky been lately?

I hate to be the devil's advocate here, but I have to....

What are you going to do when people point out the "cruelty" of feeding mice, rats, and rabbits to your snakes? Whether you feed live, freshly whacked, or even "humanely gassed" rodents to your animals, killing an animal that would otherwise live is going to reflect badly on an organization that supposedly supports the "standing up and fighting for animal rights, no matter how big the difference they make is".

Not only will this get your organization completely discredited, but something you have to realize is, the more you bring carnivorous animals like snakes (and some other reptiles) into the limelight by writing letters to politicians and so on, the MORE likely you are to get reptiles banned. All it takes is for you to bring to the attention of a politician something that they otherwise would have paid no mind to, and the next thing you know, a debate ensues that leads to a reptile ban.

I think you need to seriously rethink your strategy, and rethink the direction you'd like to take it, because you could be putting our hobby in jeopardy.
