View Full Version : Price of ETB's?
Forever

I asked in another thread but no one answered. So I am here asking again. It would be easiest if you knew the price in Canadian Dollars. Aswell as, and/or a Canadian breeder. Thanks!

From your ball python post earlier...you/your friend.... maybe you should reconsider.

Wow, well if you're having problems with ball pythons, i think you really shoudlnt get yourself an ETB before you try yourself on any snake needing more attention... Perhaps you may try an ATB before, cause ETBs are kinda expensive!

FOREVER:
Not sure what your other posts were about but if like - LEONCURRIE and BISTROBOB85 are correct you had trouble with Ball Pythons then Emerald Tree Boas are out of your league 100%. These boas are not as easy as most think, you need a few years on other boas growing up with experience to enter this line of boas. There is no need to think getting them, if you not ready.
Start with research on what you got, put some experience to raising and having healthy perfect animals, research Emeralds for 2 years then think out if you should get any. Don' t buy on impluse or think wow a cool pet......give these Emeralds a chance and avoid them

If and when your ready, they range between $600-$800.
These snakes are not for the faint of heart. They do not tolerate husbandry mistakes. They are more often nasty then nice and pack a hell of a bite with those long K-9s. If they get sick they need vet care and to lose a ball sucks but to lose a $650 snake sucks even more.
Cheers,
Trevor

Gotta love ETB's even if some of them have nasty tempers. I'd say you have a 1/20 chance of getting a nice one. Think your willing to risk that? These arn't your daddy's corn snakes.

There is quite a big difference between an ATB and an ETB.
You just can't compare the two in the same sentence.
Your pretty lucky though if you have 2 tame ATB. Congrats. :)

Definitly true. Totaly different dispositions but a tame atb isn't all that uncommon. Mine is tame now, hasn't bitten in a while and allows me to handle him from time to time, the only pain in the butt is getting him out of his enclosure without the lil bugger wrapping around another branch! :D

I don't think i'm ready to own or handle an etb..to tell ya da truth dey scare da heck outta me! lol So i'm stickin with my "poor man's emerald" my ATB. But of course...in about 3-4 years from now i'm looking into getting an etb, just need to gain more experience with the corallus family before i take the next step. :)

A bit off topic but I saw two juvi ETP's for sale today at $275.
I'm not saying that ETBs are for newer keepers and that they are totally easy to keep, but they are not as hard or as aggressive as some may think. Provided you get a CB animal and respect the husbandry rules you shouldn't run into any problems. Obviously you want some boid experience before getting into ETBs.
I'd say you have a 1/20 chance of getting a nice one. Think your willing to risk that? These arn't your daddy's corn snakes.
I daresay another myth. If you go with a WC animal you definitely run good chances of getting an agro one. But when it comes to CB animals there are a few things to know (in my experience. yes, i've been bitten but it wasn't a strike, and it was only once and I have two etbs [one for over a year]), and unless you got a very agro one, you're set:
- don't handle the snake often enough to annoy it (once or twice a week for 10 minutes are my snakes' limites).
- never, ever hurt the snake, move quickly, poke them off a branch or in any way make them uncomfortable. they know they pack a wallop and if you ask for it, they'll give it to you.
- if the worst happens, try not to jerk your hand away and the wound won't be too bad (well, relatively).
Anyway, that has just been my experience with them. I've come to the conclusion that ETBs are macho snakes that won't hurt you unless you provoke them, but provoking them is relatively easy to do.

It's funny when answering the original question is "off topic" at the end :D... anyway, sure these weren't imports, or perhaps snakes not feeding? Even in the U.S. 275 is rather low for healthy, CB juvenile ETBs.

If these etb are being declared as cb.... they are either wc or have a really bad case of reguration syndrome.
Keep that in mind when shopping around. :)
