Ok before folks think im just some pet store looking for ideas let me explain. I am a college kid home for summer. I got a job at a local pet store and since I know about reptiles, I have been put in charge of starting a reptile section. Now with that said I need to know something. Where can I get good reptiles for wholesale so I can sell them at my store. I am looking for ball pythons, corns, beardedes, uromastyx, some geckos. Things like that, that you would see in a regular pet store. I want to know good places, that way I can keep my boss from ordering from a warehouse type reptile place. I want to make sure what I order comes from a good breader. I live in Georgia, just north of Tallahassee, FL. If someone could tell me some good breeders that will do wholesale stuff, that would be GREAT. Thanks

Catch 22. If you were to order from a 'reputable breeder' you would be paying more for your animals than from an importer. The average pet store customer doesn't have a clue as to the benefits of a CB baby as opposed to a CH, farmed, or WC. They only see the inflated price.

I agree, but I think most consumers when they know the difference will probably pay the premium. You could always put up a sign saying "We sell only captive bred blah blah environment blah blah parasites blah blah humanely treated blah blah cost a bit more." Maybe I give the general population too much credit for wanting to do the right thing, but I'd certainly respond to this kind of information.

Rg, I think you give the general, fairly uninformed public too much credit. For a parent to come into a pet store because their kid is naggin' them for a reptile, I think that the only difference the parent will see between WC/farmed and CB is price. I believe it is up to the store representative to explain the differenc enad the benefits of the latter. However, that won't happen because 99% of pet stores, to keep their profit margin up, buy farmed animals in bulk, and distribute them among their 200+ locations. Sad but true.
