Just one BTS, they are one type of animal that cannot be housed in pairs unless otherwise breeding. A single adult can be housed in a 40 gal tank, thats what i have mine in. Good choice though, they are a great animal.

Blue tongues are very territorial. They shouldn't be housed together year round, only for breeding. I left my male with my female for a couple weeks because they were getting along great but going on the third week I pulled them out to clean the cages and found several bite marks on my male. This happened in a matter of 2 days because he was fine 2 days prior. Now, they were not life threatening or anything but I knew it was because my female had had enough of him invading her territory. Usually you only leave bts together for a matter of minutes. Once they breed you remove the male, I have no exuse as to why I left them together other than because they were getting along so well and were not mating I thought I'd leave them together longer in hope they would mate. My mistake. Needless to say they are not together any longer and I guess I'll have to wait till next year for another shot at babies. No biggie. I'd rather have happy healthy bt without babies than tramarized with babies. Anyway, point is that you should house them singularly unless you want trouble. I have 4 and they are all housed separately in 50 gallon enclosures. They are wonderful pets though, very easy to handle, my daughter has been handling them since she was 7. Ours love to go for walks on our shoulder in the summer time. They love the sun and are very curious when outside. One of my favorite lizards of all.
