rubbermaid ventilation

i have an 18 gallon rubbermaid (23L x 15W x 12D), and i was wondering what would be the best way to get ventilation through it, but at the same time keep heat and humidity. i was goign to drill holes, but i dont know how many to drill. how many and what size holes should i drill? thanks

Make the holes about a quarter inch bit or something to that size..even smaller..and make the holes along the sides..i know this help air flow and keeps heat and humidity in...

Cant help for the amount of holes, as i dont know the requirements of these species

whether this is right or not, I do not know, but this is what I do for my BRB.

In the lid, there's 2 rows of 5 holes.
back of container, 4 holes
sides of container, 4 holes
front, 4 holes.

the temp and humidity stay the best, and I have no complaints other than not being able to see my BRB thru the condensation.

for the sides, back, and front, you just have four holes drilled? or two rows of 4? tahnks

ok, i drilled the holes. i used a 3/8 drill bit. i have 4 on each side, and 12 on the top. think thats good?

why put anything in the top? It only lets out humidity.

i dont know, thats what some people told me. they also said it wont really make a difference. if it does though, i can always just drill a couple more holes on the sides and put a damp towel or something on top of it

The holes you've drilled sounds fine to me. Holes on the top are np. IMO and I could be wrong, but.....having holes in the sides and top allows for much better circulation.....stagnant humid air is not nessecarily the best.....humid, but fresh is ultimate IMO :)

yeah, that makes sense. tomorrow im gonna set it up with everything in it to see what the temps and humidity are, and if they arent right, ill make some changes.

alright, ill see what i can do. my friend has a digital camera, and im going to her house tonight so ill see if i can borrow it. it shouldnt be a problem though, all i have to do is figure out how to post the pics. isnt there a thread about that somewhere?
