soaking for days ??

Hey, well my big 7 foot male who finally ate again for me then climbed into his water bowl and hasn’t come out since ? It doesn’t make any sense? His cage has not changed same temps humidity he’s always had. But he’s never soaked before and now he’s been in it for like 2 days without moving. He doesn’t look like he’s going into shed. His cage has not changed in months. Is it possible that because he just ate after refusing for 6 weeks that it’s not sitting right and he’s just more comfortable in the water?? That’s the only thing I can think of. Any opinions would be great,

Could be mites, check the bottom of the bowl when he decides to get out. If there are little black specs that when squeezed produce blood, then you have mites.

Sometimes they don't go into a blue phase right away when they go into shed. One of my BCI will start soaking many days before going blue. But as Vengeance said, check for little black things in the water.

My baby will soak for 2.5 days before she goes into the blue phase and her eyes cloud over. First time she spent so much time in the water I checked for mites and there was none. She's been doing it this way since I got her in November :)

If temperatures are correct, there are no mites, and her overall appearance and well being is other wise of accordance, then I would assume it to be natural behaviour - she is soaking because she wants to.

Have you been to a local pet shopt on Prospect St. lately? They gave me mites once while I lived in Fredericton.
Like it has been menthioned if there is little black dots in the water bowl then your snakes has mites and he's trying to drown them. If it is mites PM me if you want me nix formula. I'll be in Fredericton soon to pick up some feeders I can stop buy if like to give you a hand with it.

Hey I would say it’s mites, he came out of the bowl today and it had little black specks on the bottom. Then he went back in. Unfortunately he had contact with my female as well not too long ago, so I will treat her for them as well weather she has them or not. I'm thinking about treating the other 2 snakes that are in the same room they have had no direct contact but better safe then sorry. Do they need direct contact for mites too spread I would think not, but I've never dealt with mites before? None of the other snakes are showing signs, of mites, and I my burm is albino so I should be able too see it on him.

One question I just thought of, can the same mites infect my Skinks?? I'm pretty sure the whites tree frog can’t catch them , but the Skinks I’m not sure about. (Those are the other 2 cages in the same room as him) . Any help would be great, thanks,

Snake mites are specific to snakes.
