MY FIRST CLUTCH IS HATCHING AS IM TYPING!!!! I am so excited one is walking around and the other has its head poking out!!!!!

Congrats! I'm waiting on a few right now as well. Are they regulars? IMO they look the cutest when hatched. Hope to see pics:D

ya there regs but I dont know why because both the parents are blizz. Mabey I got the eggs mixed up but im still happy about them hatching.

Its just amazing that something like that could skweez(sp) into such a small egg!lol They have already eaten and theve only been out for like 10 hours. Plus they havent shed yet so I guess that that thing that people say about them shedding before they eat isnt true.

Normally they don't eat until their first real shed, which is usually around 2-4 days. Some do eat sooner than that, and some take a week or more before they eat. It depends on how much yolk was absorbed just before hatching. I find that the ones who have 'yolk residue' left in the shell will eat sooner than the ones who have none of it left behind. If they've absorbed all or most of it, they're full for a few days, if it's left in the shell, they have an empty tummy and will be hungry sooner. And again, that's not a rule written in stone either, it's a guideline. I offer them food on the second day - just one or two items to see if they go for it.

And, then there is always ONE, that puts you into heart failure! My longest record for "first meal" is 19 days.
