Hi, I have started working at a pet store recently. The great thing is that they want me to be in charge of the reptile area. They don't have reptiles yet but they are going to give me money and tell me to set it up. I would like to know what everyone thinks a good bedding would be for the reptiles. How do people feel about corn cob bedding, aspen, or pin or things like that. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
avoid pine and any other soft woods
good beddings for reptiles; cypress mulch (my personal favourite), aspen, floramulch (simlar to cypress), astro turf (not great but not bad), reptile rugs, there's a trex rock substrate but i don't remember the name of it but bob applegate (who makes a living breeding kingsnakes) uses it exclusivly. pine needles are supposed to be ok, as is ecoearth...
hope this helps

i have only had the snake three days. im using fir bark, about two inches of it spread evenly throughout. Im also using a tank carpet above the under tank heater so it cant burn the snake if he pushes all the bark away somehow. But this is my first time owning any snake or reptile at all, so im just kind of going along learning from peeps like yourselves
Freak, you seem to be on the right track, and your BP is reaping all the benefits of your research. Keep up the good work, and keep reading.
