Keep it wet by putting it in a container with a wet face cloth or bath towel. You didn't say what kind or how big but find an appropriate sized rubbermaid or similar with a lid, and a few holes for air. Once the snake is wet in this high humidity environment it will probably remove most on its own. Any that remains will peel easily by carefully using your fingers and rubbing and peeling.

Did you just get him or something? You haven't handled him since you got him? It's hard to say if you could quiet him down with good care. Best thing to do would be to keep him comfortable. Make sure your enclosure for him is top notch to meet his requirements.
After you've done that I would start handling him with a jacket on maybe. If he bites it's gonna feel better if he bites the jacket than your arm. With enough handling he may calm down.
If he's retained part of his shed though, you need to fix that first. He's not going to be comfortable and even a docile snake is prone to strike in that state. I would do what's posted above. That's good advice. After that, if the eye caps still aren't gone, I would use a damp cloth to lightly rub the eye cap with I believe it's mineral oil/water? I'm not sure which it is. Hopefully someone will reply with the answer. Good luck.

Good chance the bite is related to the bad shed. Get that cleared up, and then see how his temperment is. Some snakes are defensive in their enclosures, but fine once their out. If this is the case, a hook might be what you need.
Next time you see any signs of shed coming on, make sure that your ambient humidity is high or that you have a humid hide for him. Best way to deal with bad sheds is to avoid them.

Eye caps can be easily and painlessly removed in two days or less with the use of cooking oil.
Using rubber gloves, coat your gloved hand with oil and gently grab the snake behind the head a few inches. You dont want the snake moving forward so be patient and allow for it to pull backwards through your hand. There will be enough oil on the eyes to do the trick.Dont let the snake crawl forward through your hand it will get oil into the vents.repeat this for 2 days. They`ll either rub it off themselves or you can allow them to crawl through a towel and free up the caps that way.

Why go through all that when a tight rubbermaid and a damp towel will allow the snake to do it its self? Seems like too much work and un-needed handling to me.

Well then if you say the cage has to be treated with vapona it is not an effective mite treatment is it? An effective mite treatment treats the snake and cage at the same time in one step, effectively and efficiantly with out having to coat the snake in oil.

Whatever you say Big Guy ,you WIN
Its doubted by you and yet proven more effective and far less stressfull to the animal. Let some Pyreths set on your skin for a few minutes and tell us how it feels.
ORMD Hazmat Class products should always be comprimised when possible.
