I just got a scale so I could weight my newly adopted BP. He’s 454gr. and 32 inches long. Can anyone tell about how old he is? I understand that being adopted he might not have been cared for correctly but under normal conditions could someone guess his age?
I’ve had him a little over a month and on some of your folk’s advice I’ve converted him over to sm/mid rats. (fresh kill) He ate one a week for three weeks and them shed. The shed was not in one piece but everything came off. Since the shed he has been hanging out in the hide on the cool side. Is this normal since I didn’t feed him during the shed? For the people that say their BP doesn’t like water….mine wakes up every night at 7pm and takes a soak for about an hour. You can set your clock by him. His humidity is between 50% & 60%. I may try to raise it before his next shed. He also loves to clime. His cage is 2’L X 2’W X 4’H. There is a shelf a foot from the top that has another hide on it and he likes to clime up a branch to the shelf and hides up there.

sounds like he is from 2003!

your set up sounds fine, and you don't have to raise the humidity..... 50-60 is good!

ball pythons need more length space than height space. They are ground snakes not tree snakes :)

But sounds like he is doing good.

That cage sounds huge for a 500g bp or any bp for that matter, but if he's eating fine and otherwise 'acclimated' more power to you. Good luck.
