no pics but a friend of mine hangs fake plants from the top (its a sliding glass tank) and has a nice waterfall int he corner..its a big 6 foot tank for two. He has some cork bark and stuff like that..looks really good..he also screw a piece of wood so the snake can get up higher if it wants..but the wood looks really natural, not just yellow or whatever like your probably thinking..looks good! :)
this enclosure is only for a 5 month old, its about 2.5-3 ft long

sorry about the quality of the pic:)
have you ever seen backgrounds they use in vivariums? take a look and mabey you could modify it for large, heavy boas. http://www.blackjungle.com/gallery/talltank/page1.html

I find the bigger the snake gets the more it becomes a pain too have decorations, so my cages are pretty boring for anything over 6’ , 30lb and I don’t have a boa under that. Any way, here’s one with my female boa in it.

Hi, she does have a hide, but she never uses it so if I clean and take it out, it slips my mind and sometimes I forget too put it back in, (which is probably what happened before that pic).

My cages are very simple. Just a water bowl and substrate (newspaper or towels).

Most snakes do perfectly fine without additional hides. Out of all my snakes, only two have hides in them. They eat, breed, etc. just fine.

True, but im sure they would want to feel more secure no?

thanks everyone, keep em coming.
I am definately wanting to keep it natural without alot of decor ( in the case of returning mites :( or something ). I'm thinking of a branch spanning the entire length of tank, and other than that, I am still indecisive.

I agree with Linds and keep cages simple. We have found that when boas get bigger they stop using their hides so we take them out.

hey, i learn somethign new everyday :) Great enclosures guys...i needa build some permenent wooden enclosures soon for all my guys..
Some snakes may benefit from hides, some don't. There really isn't any need to state that all snakes must have hides though. Snakes should be treated like the individuals they are. Also, most snakes prefer to hide under things, instead of in things. Substrate is one of the best hides you can have, IMHO. Not only does a lot of it simulate leaf litter and the like, but it also gives your snake the maximum amount of space in its enclosure :)

Not coming down on anyone PAPERTOWELS!!! don't use newspaper unless you want to stain your snake green carpet as well is no good the dye runs into the belly after long periods on some snakes but nice enclosures people !!!!

For boas that like to hide I crumple some newspaper and they like to hide under that. I'm not sure why but I don't really notice a lot of ink on my animals? Maybe its because I have so much newspaper stock piled and by the time I use it's about a year old. LOL!
Newspaper may not look the best but is much more sanitary than most substrates. I recently convinced a friend to switch from reptibark/cypress to newspaper. He thought his cages were clean but when he removed the substrate he found several buried turds/urates and many urine spots that had soaked to the bottom leaving a sticky dirty looking mark on the bottom of the cage. Newspaper also allows him the ease of feeding his boas in their enclosre rather than removing them so they don't ingest substrate.
I am not totally against a more natural terrarium set up but IMO they are a lot more work to maintain.
