Just had a few questions for anyone who has any experience with these things.

First off, it seems to me it would be best to use a sealed container inside the incubator to place the deli cups containing egss into, is this assumption correct?

It looks to me like the circuit board sensor could easily be damaged by humidity, although in the directions it states you can pour water into the bottom, if anyone can clarify this it would be much appreciated.

I wouln't put water directly in the bottom as it will rust the metal parts. I put my eggs in deli cups with mois vermiculite and the cover that goes on teh delicup. I never had any problems using this method

I've been pouring water in the bottom of my hova bators for 3 years and never had a problem.

The round part you have didn't rust??? the one that expands and retracts?

I am almost certain you can't get a humidity high enough to rust the waffer just by pouring water into incubator. I don't think the waffer is made of a iron based metal anyway so it won't rust. Chances are, the waffer will fail long before it rusts. You need to replace it every few years.

I use a small dish of water in mine to keep humidity up. Humidity is at about 40-60% this way.

The need to use a small container inside the incubator depends on the species you are keeping. For me, I want really low humidity for incubation of my gecko eggs. But something like leopard gecko eggs might require the small container inside the incubator.
