Adult BRB caging

Right now my BRBs are housed (separately) in underbed rubbermaids around 44"x17"x7" and I would like something a little larger, any suggestions?

I thought about putting a second one, same size, upside down on top to create a larger, hinged top. The only thing would be letting the edges line up to prevent escape.

I would also be interested in custom building like I did for my other enclosures, but I would need to find a way to seal it well in order to maintain such high humidity. Maybe I'd look into spray on bedliner for pickups, anyone think that would work?

4x2x1.5 custom built cages. 5/8" plywood, sealed with marine enamel (or a nice epoxy), sliding glass doors at the front, minimal vents (the space between the glass is ALMOST enough).

I use 33g tanks on their sides with plastic wrape wraped around the screen cover which is now the front opening door. This is temperary until I glue in some track and go with sliding glass front.

Hmmm, spray on bedliner would cost me around $3.50 per square foot, and a 48x24x18 enclosure has 20 sq ft exposed, which would cost ~$70 or so per enclosure, just to coat it...

Epoxy may be cheaper.

Marine enamel at $30 per can does 9 cages at a time (including a watered-down primer coat). So that's just over $3 per cage. Yeah.........

I can't find it anywhere... the Home Depot doesn't have it here (or at least they said they dont, have been wroing) and I called a boat manufactured in town and they were less than helpful...

Any lumber store, paint store, hardware store, etc etc will have it. Not places like Home Depot or the like. Places that specialize in that kind of stuff. Hone Depot is a giant "everything" store like WalMart.

what kind of temps and humidity do you keeps your BRB Jeff?
and what kind of cool down do you give before breeding?

78-80F cool end 88-90F warm and. Humidity is high, but I never measure it. To CYCLE them for breeding, I keep the day time temperatures the same, but drop the night time temps to about 70-72F. I also keep them a little drier. They are NOT hard to keep.

what type of encloseure is better for the, a custom enclsure, a big rubbermaid, ect. please give me some info so i can creat and test my enclosure befor they get here.

Yeah, I use heat tape down the back hooked up to a thermostat. You can get away with a dimmer if you are around to constantly play with the settings. Dimmers just dim the heat down or up, but if the room ambient changes, then so does the cage temps. If you use a thermostat, then the temps will be what you set them to be. But if everything is in a reptile room that ITSELF is on a thermostat (that's what I have), then the room ambient will not change and you can use dimmers instead of thermostats.

Custom-built enclosures will work, but so will Rubbermaids. Personal preference.

Just use Rubbermaids until the snake reaches adult size (or pretty close). ie. DON'T stick a baby snake in a frickin' HUGE adult cage. Grow the snakes up in successively bigger Rubbermaids until they are ready for their adult enclosures.

Finally found some marine enamel! Of nearly a dozen places I checked only one carried it and will not be restocking. It cost $15 a quart but I got two coats on each cage from the first can!

Yep. Make sure to BAKE it in the sun until you can't smell anything anymore. Usually about 2-3 days, depending on the weather/time of year.

what kind of thermostate do i use, all the ones at canadian tire are 220 volt, not 110. so i can't hook them up to my heating pad.

i am building a 4 by 3 by 3 inclosure for my brazilian rainbow out of plywood, and glass slyding doors, what do i do for ventilation and what do i use to heat it. my snake room is always 75- 77 in temp., and is controlled by a thermostat.
