also you can use a bit of neosporin/polysporin on it..... keep it applied, and keep the animal on paper towel, so dirt doesnt get lodged inside it. Good luck

still, geckos in good conditions can get eye problems.. sometimes stuff happens, regardless of the species ive found neosporin clears up most injuries.

IMO i would be leary about putting neosporin or polysporin on the eye area though. I'll have to go home and read the lables but don't they say not to ingest, don't use on deep wounds, and keep out of the eyes???

If it were me i would contact a vet and see what they have to say, maybe ask them if you could try and rinse the eyes out with a sensitive salene solution (don't do this until you contact a vet though), i've used it when sand got in my beardies eye a long time ago and it worked great!!!

Ive used it many times on eyes without problems.. I do know that some forms of neosporin are more like steroids, and can cause problems on severe cuts. But from my expierience i havent seen any issues, also alot of other herpers i know do the same thing.. But you have to do what you're comfortable with.

I would have to agree with drewlowe's advice. I have successfully used a sterile saline solution to gently flush out a gecko's eye that was "stuck" shut before. I wouldn't recommend putting any polysporin-type ointments on the eye, they weren't designed to be applied to those kind of membranes and the oils and whatnot may do more harm than good.

Just got home from work, Yea!!! it's the weekend!!!

Anyway got out my Neosporin and the Warnings say:

For external use only. Do not use in the eyes or apply over large areas of the body. In case of deep or puncture wounds, animal bites (LOL tell that to my girls when the male bites their heads), or serious burns. And yada yada yada about seeking physicians adivce.

Bah, ive been advised in the past by some top breeders that its safe to use in small quantity, as well as done it myself and saw nothing but good results.. I would say the saline would be better, but this has worked for me and caused no ill effects. in fact the animals Ive used it on have gone on to breed etc....So i didnt see to many long term problems either.. I wouldn't go as far as saying use it for mouthrot, or anything like that as oil based products shouldnt be ingested.
