Title pretty much says it all...i was just wondering if it should be cooked, to what point should it be cooked, hardboiled, with shell with out?

Thanks!

I believe the eggs should be boiled, and fed with the shell on.

Just make sure you don't feed them eggs too often, they can cause obese animals.

Adam,

10 lbs of ground turkey
90gms steamed bone meal
2 crushed centrium multi-vitamin.
6 eggs.. with shells

i guess u can also add the calcium + D3 powder too

brown the turkey, add eggs and cook unti eggs are cooked.
once done u can refridgerate it or freeze it into meal size portions.

san diego zoo used this recipe for several years on all of their african monitors and this made up 70% of their diet. they also used insects, molluscs and a very occasional rodent.
hope this helps.

I keep some frozen however, I use rats 95% of the time and some smelts and mixed seafood on occasion
Cheers
Brian

i dont think hes big enough to eat a meal like that...maybe an egg lol but not that much food...hes only about 14 inches long with tail

Also, smelts are like anchovees right?

So if i just wanted to give an egg, make it hardboiled with the shell and all?

hardboil an egg, mash it up w/shell and put it in a bowl. Your sav will eat it....... As far as smelts go, its ok for a treat, not very often though.... Ground turkey diet is good once or twice a week if done properly.

Kinda hard to find 10 pounds of ground turkey....
what I do is just get a standard package, by price about 3.50$, break about 3 eggs in it mixed with shell. Then add some repti-cal, or bone meal. just be the judge, you dont need to be completely exact on anything providing you still feed other items, like rodents, insects etc.

and how would i cook this..just in a pot with some water or something? And for about how long?

no, just brown it in a frying pan. usually takes 5-10 minutes.

I usually get a bowl, mix the turkey with eggs, vits etc, and then throw it into a pan and brown it, then put it into ice cube trays and freeze it.... Pop one out at a time when needed.

good idea!

So then i just heat it up? Or just let it defrost...and how long can i keep them their, like frozen..

I dunno, you gotta be the judge on how long it'l last.. If i make 2 trays, its gone rather quick.. I usually use it as a supplement in food, if i have say a bowl of quail, i add some turkey chunks. So it goes quickly.....I have way to many monitors..

Since you only have one sav, id get some freezer bags, and put the trays in them to prevent freezer burn. And yes, let it defrost, it doesnt take long.... Do it the night before, wake up and feed.
