veiled coloration

my veiled is 4 months old now, and her colors look like they have darkened. when i first got her, she appeared to be a light green, with some orange. now she looks like a greyish-green.. its not stress, because when she gets stressed you can see the dark bars and spots. i know chameleons dont really start showing too great of colors until around 5-6 months of of age, but i am curious on how she was more colorful in the beginning then now. thanks

Their colours change according to their mood, stress level, temperatures, along with maybe other contributing factors. What are the temperatures like in the cage? Do you have UVB lighting?

she has two basking spots, each at about 95 degrees, yes i have uva/uva lighting. humidity is at about 50-60%, and after a misting it rises to 70 +.

i know their colors change according to mood, i just think its weird how she showed more color when i first got her then she does now, except when she is sleeping.

I noticed that with Ichiro (my exish veiled) who as a baby was light green, then he darkened quite a bit, and now looks like this

As you can see he has brightened up again. Maybe it's just a stage in life?

Their colours change constantly, its really not a big deal. Of course this goes only when proper husbandry is at hand, as they can go dark from a lack of heat, stress, etc.

kidchameleon, its normal. But thats not the question, why do they change colour from when you got him, is probly cause he was in a different place right now, in the new home you gave it, they try there best to blend in with the leafs, probly the person you bought it from had bright leafs. This is a guess:p

well, that could be true i guess. but at the show, the guy had schefflera plants in with them, and in her new cage she has a schefflera with her, along with a ficus,potho and some fake plants and vines.

Meow mix, my point is your chameleon will constantly change its colouration to match both his environment and mood. So long as temperatures and your set up are correct, and the chameleon is not black, I would not worry about it.
