I have recently bought a little male ball and he shed a few days ago. After the shed ive noticed his belly is red and dry looking with some cracked looking areas-like a bad case of chapped lips and the some of the scales are white looking. Not a normal white though. It starts about 1/3 of the way down his underside and continues to the base of his tail.Ive got a pic im trying to post, but anyone know what it is?burn, scale rot, something else?he is kept in a humid, but not wet rubbermaid with a heat pad on one side.the bottom has newspaper, and is warm, but not hot to the touch-its about 88 degrees.he has a hide on that side, and ive once found him soaking a few days ago-just before he finally took his first meal since ive had him.it seems painful for him when he moves.

I cant tell you what it is, and a pic would probably help everyone else to make a percise accusation but as the temps go..id try to get them up a little higer, to the 90-93 area..not a big deal but thats what i was told to do as well.
Hope its nothing serious, good luck!

heres a pic
Looks like old scale rot/belly burn. Polysporin it every day, and hope that he sheds it off successfully. Also, "about 88 degrees" sounds like you don't have him on a thermostat. Get one, or expect problems like this ALOT more often.

or a little more into detail, a digital theremometer with a probe, put the probe right OVER the uth/human heating pad to get an exact reading.
a lamp dimmer/rheostat/thermostat might be helpful in controling how hot it gets.
also a humidity gauge might help to, as it can't get TO humid in there, but needs to be about 50-60%
In that picture it looks like he is still in shed? If so do you have any pics of him not in shed of his belly?
edit:
You said you have a hide on his hot side. If it is a burn, it might be because he is chosing security (in the hot hide) over thermoregulation, and sat there long enough to get burnt.
Put another hide in on the cool side so he doesnt have to chose. If I'm wrong I apologize!

How humid are we talking here? Is he constantly on damp substrate? Also, do what everyone else said. Your priority needs to be a good digital thermometer so you know what the temps ARE, and not just how they feel.
