Well when I peeked in at my female Childrens today she wasn't doing the "belly up thing" but was in a rather nice "pyramid type" pose. Yep she's all wrapped around what appears to be a big healthy clutch. THX to Henry P. for the new male I got from him last year as he worked out great! I'm waiting until later to take them as my incubator is not quite where I want it. Damn Calgary weather LOL 24 C down to 1 C from afternoon to evening. Its not quite stable at a temp I like yet, little too hot, so I'll mess with it throughout the day until I'm happy that it won't "spike" on the hot side. Updates etc. to follow once details are found out.
Mark :D
P.S. Laid 30 days after the prelay shed.

Well it looks like 13 with no slugs. They don't seem to be as "full" as they should be though, meaning that they all are the right size, colour & texture but seem to be more "water ballonish" too the touch than normal. Hoping this is not a bad sign. Time will tell I guess. Mark

Last years incubation was between 43 (first hatched) - 46 days (last one hatched) which isn't very long at all really. Says in the book (Pythons - Barron's) "generally takes 60 days at 85 to 90 F (29-33 C)" It also says "and lay their eggs 23 days after shedding" & "between 2-12 eggs". They were wrong on all counts LOL Mother Nature doesn't always go by the book. Fairly safe guidelines actually though. She decided to keep them in her an extra week this year I guess (I think it was 3 weeks last year after prelay that she laid) & I hope 13 doesn't prove to be unlucky (touch wood). Incubation was done at the higher end of the scale last year, whereas this year I'll shoot more for the middle. Only time will tell & as previously stated I'm not totally happy with them yet. Ken you will be first on the list if things work out. THX everyone & pics are coming. Mark

Jeff are you dissing my $10 book LOL they are a good set of guidelines for beginners anyhow. They get the just of it, just not all of it 100% right LOL They are getting better over time. I could always buy a real book but that would take away money for snakes. Mark

Congrats.
Isn't it every spring TARAS show that you rush home to see if you have Childrens eggs? I think you mentioned it last spring also.

Those eggs are fine man. Python eggs are always squishier than colubrid eggs. They will also swell up as they get into more humid surroundings (ala your incubator). No worries man.
You got stock in Barren's? Heh heh.....

Ryan well not every year, but yes this is the second year straight. Even with the new guy its 2 for 2 for her Woo Hoo! It was Colubrids I think during show time last year? Last Year she laid April 1rst almost a month sooner. I think the new male was a bit intimidated by her size for the first while, but he obviously got over that. I never did see them locked up. Thx Guys! Mark
P.S. Jeff no stock but they do sell a lot of books maybe I should consider LOL then I could get some real books : )

Congrats Mark! I'm expecting clutches of both flavors of Ozzy dew worms myself.
How long after shed did she lay?
Its been a few years since I produced these, and I never recorded the time from shed to oviposition.
Is it consistant? Its around a month isn't it?
I do however recall mine always hatched surprisingly fast as well in the 40 to 47 days range. Them and Schneiders skinks are the shortest incubations I've ever had.

Roy it was 23 days last year 30 this. Last year 43-46 days incubation (hatched over 4 days). Mark
