Are the apple snails illegal as well? Or just this specific giant snail?

Many of the large land snails are restricted by CFIA, but applesnails are aquatic, and "legal" in Canada.

Those giant snails are prohibited in Canada too, in addition to tropical roaches, stick bugs and mantids, so heads up.
There have already been seizures in Toronto

I take it by stick bugs and mantids, they mean non-indigenous species right?

I've only seen one stick bug while living in Ontario, but it was on the outside of my house :)

Heres a usefull link & I have a thread here somewhere in reguards to the legalities of non native insects in the general forum here somewhere. Don't ask me to interpet the Govt.s info there though LOL Mark

Too bad about them being illegal. Very cool (and BIG) snails. But the consequences of there possible survival if released far outweigh any enjoy I could derive from them. But still, very interesting snails.

Currently, only Achatina achatina and A. fulica are restricted in Canada....unfortunately, the latter species accounts for about 80% of the Achatina currently in the country.
