Well, for Ball Pythons anyways. Not the 30 clutches like other Ball breeders, LOL! But Ball Pythons aren't exactly my favorite snake to work with, so I'm quite indifferent! :p

BIG female. I'd say over 3500g. CB by me in 1997, and laid her first clutch in 2001 (and again in 2002).

Cheers! :D

LOL!! Ha ha I don't "hate" working with them. Just in a relative sense, I find every other snake on the planet funner to own and breed. LOL! ;)

Het albino females were too small and skinny to go, so everything I had was just bred with the pastel. 10-12 clutches is what I figure. Plus I wanted to replace at least 1/2 of my normal female breeders with pastel females, so I went nuts with them. If I can bag say 10 female pastels for myself, then I'll be totally happy with the Ball Pythons this year.

Cheers man. And quit posting ads for het pied! You are KILLING me. LOL! :D

Boo-Hoo! Stop complaining... :D

If you guys dislike them so much, I know a nice guy in Manitoba who could take them off your hands. ;)

Jeff,

I've got 4 clutches of het pieds on the way if you are interested. You should be producing a lot of pastels this year. If you averaged 12 clutches of 6 eggs that is 72 eggs.........with 1/2 being pastels that should be roughly 36 pastels and with 1/2 being female that should roughly be 18 female pastels............that is a lot of pastels! I might get close to that but only because I'm using a Super Pastel and Pastel het Ghost to produce clutchs (3 from the Pastel het Ghost and 2 from the Super Pastel).

Ha ha the super is CHEATING! ;)

Yeah, anything over 10 females for me is gravy. The thing is, once we get female albinos, ghosts, axanthics, etc etc grown up, we'll want to be using those to make double morphs. So maybe keeping a bunch of female pastels isn't the smartest thing. I've always been a firm believer that the best way to make double morphs with the single recessive and a co-dom is to have the female be the single recessive. That is, female albino x male pastel het albino, female ghost x male pastel het ghost etc etc etc

And I don't really want a ton of Ball Pythons around here, LOL! I don't think my collection will ever grow past 80 BP's. 50 or 60 is a good number. We'll see. I got in late, so I'm kind of anxious as to which direction to take.

Het pieds man, don't even get me started. As soon as the reptile money starts flowing in, you will be hearing from me. I don't want to jinx anything though, but I've spent the last 2 days (since you posted the ad) figuring out what I need in the pied department! And its your fault man. Alllll your fault.

Cheers, talk to you soon.

Well I'm open to trades......but cash is always good too....lol. I was hoping for some Pastels het pied this year (I bred my pied male to 2 female 2001 pastels that were each 2800 grams) but I don't think the females are going to ovulate for me...........which really sucks! Oh well.......I'll breed them to something else next year.

I want to see you make a NERD line Super man. That would be dope. Actually, even a black back (het red axanthic) pastel combo would be neat to see. Don't you think? :D

I agree cash is good! In fact, its great! So come on peeps, start saving to buy some animals so I can get my het pied group!!! LOL! ;)

Corey Woods

Jeff,

I also bred my Red Axanthic male to a pastel female (also 2800 grams) but I don't think she's going to go either. But, I had a female pastel 100% het Ghost that was about 2000 grams give me eggs...........go figure!.......the smallest breeder size pastel lays eggs and they others don't (and they are all 2001's which means they are 3 years old).

That one female finally laid for me...............42 days after her post ovulation shed. A couple years ago I had a female go 46 days........but luckily this is the extreme! I average 28 days from their shed.

Hey Corey,

Have you noticed shorter hatching times with the eggs which are laid later after POS than normal?

Jeff_Favelle
04-29-04, 07:05 PM
46 days! I would go mental. But there's nothing really you can do but wait anyways. 41 days was my longest. It was a crappy clutch as well. It was the female's 4th year in a row and she laid 5 eggs, only 2 fertile! Yuck.

Corey Woods
04-29-04, 07:56 PM
Ron,

Unfortunately not............all eggs I've hatched have the same incubation length.......but it would be nice if the female held the eggs in an extra 10 days that they'd hatch 10 days sooner.

Jeff,

I dred having early clutches. I've found that if a female lays inbetween 20-24 days usually it's because their is a high number of slugs in the clutch. Once a female gets over 26 days usually the clutch contains mostly fertile eggs. The 41 day clutch was 9 fertile eggs (all het albino).

Yeah, I had a 19 day clutch a couple years back. 4 fertile, 2 infertile. Actually, the only times I've ever had infertile Ball eggs, was the 19 day clutch, and the 41 day clutch!! Every other clutch with an average lay time of 28 days after PLS has been 100% fertility. This year kind of scares me as I only used one male and so many females.

Best of luck guys! Balls "can" be fun! ;)
