Well, I finally got a new A. avicularia yesterday to replace the one that passed away some months ago.

Invictus actually got himself an A. avicularia as well! Hah hah hah! I've converted him into a tarantula lover! :D

Thank-you Walter for both of those beautiful specimens! :)

It's truly amazing how fear can be the vewry foundation for fascination, isn't it?

Congratulations on getting over your fears. I regret to inform you within the next year you will most likely become fanatics and purchase large amount of them. I know it happened to me! (well I traded for paintings as well, but same thing)

I hear you Invictus, what you said was so true!
Those big centipedes scare me!!! Eeeeeek!!

So now I want one, so I can see how it lives and what it does. I will feel better if I can see them in a different light. I saw some pics of them laying on their back holding their babies to their belly, those were pretty cute...even for a hideous freaky bug. hahaha

Enjoy the pinktoes guys!
Have you noticed that they will 'wag' their butts when you pet them? I know its not their intent to be petted or adorable, but...they are!

Just watch out for the projectile feces! You'd be surprised of their range and accuracy!

Oh, Aidan!!

You're such a spoilsport!
Not all of the avics will do that...and besides, wouldn't it be cute for them to 'discover' it? hahahahaha

Yve, they're both sub-adults or adults, and I'm not sure of the genders yet. I'll get pics of them so so that you invert experts can give us a better idea. :)

So far that's three Tarantulas that we have in the house, and I'm sure that we'll have more in no time. :)

Forget the tarantulas Erin, go for the scorpions! I think Dave will agree with me. :P

Well, read the Wanted ads on this very forum. I've posted want ads for both Avicularia versicolor AND Flat rock scorpions. Don't worry, I've always been a scorp fan. I was just spider-phobic. :)

Well, good thing you didn't get avic slings.
The ones I had have grown up some, and are quite pleasant pets. I just received some teeny babies, and man, I forgot how ANNOYING they are! They don't stop moving! Its a contest for me to crack the lid enough to mist in the water without losing them. The brats run straight for the opening every time! They are just waiting for me, I know it! hahahahaha
Awww, I like the little brats with their black boots. They look so funny when they run fast!

hey D, my a. versicolour doesn't move when I open up its vial. Sometimes it is sitting on the lid and I just pop it open through in a crik or some water and no problem. But i do attempt this whilst the vial is in a much larger container just incase;)

I'm a scorp. lover too!:) They are just as interesting as a tarantula. My flat rock was doing a hand stand the other day in a corner!lol

Oh lord, we tried moving them into their new homes last night (rubbermaids), and Erin had a BEEOTCH of a time.. they kept climbing up her arm, and just going like mad. She finally was able to wrangle them into the rubbermaids, and they were both doing LAPS around the top. Damn arboreal spiders. :)

hahaha, I've just given up on the teeny avic babies. I just let them run out of their delicup and onto my arm. They will stop running after a short distance and wait while I give their home a good misting and add the food. They will return no problems. They just hate being in there while the mist is falling.
Whatever, as long as they're happy. :)

Ours are pretty good, wether I'm misting them, replacing their pillow packs, or dropping crickets in, they stay put in their claimed corners. :)

Hmmm.. Well.. the one i have is pretty skittish, but he never runs for the lid... everytime i pop it open he just runs into his mess of webbing... i almost have never seen him leave it actually...except when catching cricks. i could leave the lid open for 10 whole mines and he just sits in his webbing...lol... what a lazy a$$. haha. Congrats on the new spiders by the way...i think they are awesome when full grown. Gonna get myself a green bottle blue and a suntiger this coming show..:).. can't wait!!:)
