Hey. We recently came to own an adult ball python, and she appears to have an injury to her eye caused from a rodent bite. We've been told that this snake will only eat live. The previous owner exhausted all ways to try and convert her to f/t.

besides waiting for her next shed to come and for it to heal on itself, any advice on how to effectivly treat her eye and minimize long term damage?

we plan on supervising every feeding do everything we can to prevent any further injuries to her.

Thanks a million :)

On the supervising of the feeding, unless the rodent is restrained, supervising will not help. These kinds of accidents happen in a fraction of a second and no person could be fast enough to prevent it. The only way to prevent another injury is to restrain the live animal so that it is unable to injure the snake.

On the eye problem, how old is the injury? I would suggest taking him to a vet as only a vet is going to be able to say for sure if it should be treated with antibiotics or not. If it is an old injury, then there is probably nothing that needs to be done now (should have been done immediately), however if this just happened then there may be things that can be done.

from what i've been told, the injury could be around a month old.
