I THINK that that is a caterpillar larvae...Look at the back end and it has little caterpillar legs. I have no idea what kind though...

It looks like a cutworm to me--a burrowing caterpillar that will turn into a moth.

Is there any site online to try and identify it?
Also, could it be fed to a tarantula? Don't want it back in the garden lol.
