Anyone currently working with this species?
Captive raised vs. wild caughts or farm raised?
juveniles or adults?
How do you find their temperment now that you've been working with them?
Thanks in advance,
Guapote

I worked with them for a while years ago. I had wild caught black phase and some of Mark Bell's gold phase..
They are pretty nutty,(aggressive) and I had to cover the glass with mac tac to keep them from striking it. I'm afraid they were my biggest failure... I tried to breed them but every time I put them together they prefered to try eating each other. On several occasions I had to run to the bathroom with a white lip ball, and toss them in a bath tub of cold water to split them up..
I also found them very susceptable to respiratory ailments, although that could have been because mine were big old wild caughts(over7 foot)
Other people don't have quite as bad an experience as I did, however its safe to say they aren't the easiest snake to breed.
It has been done here in Canada however.
Annette Thompson or Carseland Alberta has bred them.

I recently traded for a long term captive adult female. She is beautiful to look at, but a pain in the butt to take out for cage cleanings.

I've only had her for around 2 months, so I've still got a long time to go before I get a solid opinion of her.

Temperment is horrible. Mine bites all the time and will even nail the glass if I walk by. I am continually treating her nose from where she scuffs it from nailing the glass. I do love her though; she is a real challenge to work with. One more thing.... She will deficate if handeled, EVERY TIME!

The four that I had, were vicious at first, but tamed down after time. Just handle them lots, keep them moist and warm. Three of mine were WC's and tricky to get feeding, but once started they were pretty reliable.

I have 1.2 group of the black phase white lipped pythons. I have had them for around three days and all three are eating and showing good signs of health. In the very short time I have being working with them, I have found they they are just like amazons. Once I get them out of the cage the calm down and stop biting. I will post a picture of the in around an hour. Thanks Richard Welter

Here's a picture of one of three. I will get other pics out later, none of them wanted to be filmed today.

Best of luck with them Richard. I still think they are beautiful serpents. If they are CB you will likely have much better luck than I did.
Should be interesting to see what they're like at 7 foot. It's possible that frequent handling right from hatchling might calms them down dramatically
My hats off to anyone that even keeps them for more than a few years.
I ended up shipping mine to my broker in the US.
The entire shipment was almost sent back because when USF&W opened the box, they had ripped right through the brand new pillow cases and went straight for the officers leg.
He apparently had few choice words for "Canadians"
but my consignee was on hand to calm the guy down.

I am almost 99.99% sure that they are CH and came from BushMaster Reptiles. Seeing how I have only kept emeralds and amazons for the last two years I am not 100% on how to keep them. I am keeping them like an emerald, except I am only sparying there hide box instead of the hold cage. The temps are at 82-89 in the day and 75-80 at night. The humidity is also at 80% in the day time and 40% at night. Please tell me if that sound right. Thanks RIchard Welter

I went and feed them around a hour ago and everything went as planned. I was even able to pick them up as they were killing there prey. I feed each on a freshly killed hopper and within seconds the mouse was gone.

I think this is a very unique animal to work with. I even took a 55 second video with my camera to show the feeding. One day I can figuire out how to post a video.

That's a very beautiful snake, I can't wait to get a 1.1 pair of those some day. :)
