I was able to get a good pic of one of the xrays Lar had in Nov. She was full of eggs, and ended up having surgery. But I wanted to share the pic:

2 things to notice in the xray: 1. the belly full of eggs. It's hard to see, but if you look closely you can see the egg shapes.
2. Look at her thigh bones. Compare them. Do you know what that shows?
Cool pic! Well, I can guess at what I'm looking at: The left thigh bone looks much thicker than the right. Also, her left hip looks different than the left, could be her position though. Do tell, what did her vet say about it? I haven't a clue as to what either would mean.

Yep, Dani got what I was pointing out.
Larry as a young ig broke her right leg ( the left in this pic ), she never recieved treatment for it. It did heal on its own, and then she was "rescued". When I adopted her from the rescuers in Sept. 03, she was doing ok, then she became eggbound and started to have the beginnings of MBD in that leg ( hence the amount of swelling in the bone ) and in her shoulders.
So basically, the swelled leg bone, is showing you what MBD looks like :) The actual leg is bigger than the other in that area, so it is fairly apparant.
Just wanted to show people what MBD actually looks like internally.
sidenote: Lar is fine. The leg does not give her any probs that we know of. Because of the break though, it has the potential to cause probs later on in life as she gets to be an old lady. But thankfully, early MBD can be improved, and she has. There is nowhere near that amount of swelling now :D
