What size?

OK. Iknow that rats are healthier than mice to feed a snake. But I have a Mexican Rosey Boa. And she is feedig on lg pinky and an occasionall small fuzzy. I want to switch her to rats but I wanna know if a rat pinky is the same size as a lg mouse pink or fuzz. Or basically will she be able to get down and keep it down. Well her is a pic tell me what you think. This is the biggest the forum would let me post the pic sorry if its small if any one could help me post it bigger it would be great.

A newborn rat pink is usually around 6g, which is the size of a small fuzzy. They grow quite rapidly and by day 2, can easily be 8g in size. By 3-4 days, they are the size of a large mouse fuzzy. But there is some thought that a mouse fuzzy is better than a newborn rat pink as there is more calification of the bones, so what you are already feeding sounds fine.

I personally believe that a rat pink is just as good as a large fuzzy. They have all the extra calcium of mothers milk, Which in the first couple of weeks should be high in calcium/protiene to help them grow.

Rosies do well on mice their whole lives. They also can't handle as large of meals as most other snakes. I would wait until your snake gets a little larger before switching it over to rat pinks, if you still want to. Rat pinks are the same size as large fuzzy mice.

I agree with Linds. Sure, rat pinkies may have calcium, but they are also extremely high in fat, which is ok for a snake in its infancy, but a Rosy boa that is more than a couple of months old should be on mice, and can stay on mice. It just larger Boids that you want to get feeding on rats ASAP.
