My cousin told me that his friend has a 4' retic and he doesnt want it anymore. He told me that it is free and is giving the cage with it not sure how big the cage is. I was never really planning to get a retic because of how big they get but I would rather take it then have it with someone that doesnt care for the snake. Im sure I could care for it until I found someone that wanted it or I would keep it if I couldnt find anyone. Any suggestions or info about careing for them or what to look for before I decide to take it or not would help. Thanks for any help

i say, think about what happens when the snake reaches its possible 20+ foot length, will you have room for the cage, money to buy its food, people to help you move the snake, and so on? if you think you wont be able to do one of those important things i wouldn't keep it. there are plenty of people who are experts with retics that you could give it to. but just do ALOT and alot and alot of research if you think about keeping it. either way, what ever you decide, please get it out the persons house that doesn't want it-i have rescued alot of reptiles from people that didn't want it, that also meant they weren't taking care of it any more and the animals were in bad shape. good luck

Thanks lrptls I would plan on keeping it if i didnt have to just dont want it to suffer because someone thinks they can care foe it then changes there mind. my other cousin has goats so i could prob get some off him for free or cheap if it ever got that big while i had it.

You shouldn't have too much problem finding a good home for the retic. Retics are very popular snakes, just ask around on a few web sites and even post an add for it here. They're great snakes if you're prepared and skilled enough to deal with them.

You could post a message about this retic on bobclark.com or constrictors.com (I think that's the site.) Bob Clark is primarily a python breeder, and there are tons of retic enthusiasts/cognoscenti who post there regularly and wouldn't mind adding another tic to there collection.

You want to contact the admin of BC first before offering it there. But I may know a few people that may want it. I will check.

I got the snake today and the retic turned out to be a ball very head shy and had some bad sheds and a burn mark.

ButWork with her/him and it will pull threw. Maybe get a pillow case and some wet paper towels and put him in the wet pillow case for a couple hours.
