There are a few things in there that many people would disagree with. I'm not saying I know more than the authors by any means, and the majority of it is great information, but many people frown on things like using heat rocks and sand substrate for babies.
From all that I have read I was not planning on using any heat rocks or heating pads. I got the impression that the main thing is just to have the right temperatures.
But I hadn't heard the sand thing. How old before it is ok because that is what I was planning on using. And I have a 72x20x20 tank;how small of an area should I close off til the little guy gets bigger?(do't have any little guy yet) How bigdoes he need to be to have the run of the tank?

i used sand with my babies and found it was fine.
I also had the book, but had also read that it was better to avoid sand. But i used calci sand and i had no problems, apart from when he rolled in the sand and got it in his eyes, had to take time to heal!
Its nice to look at and the beardies like it (seemingly) but if you can find something better, it would be a good idea!

GP212- I would set the full tank up and let him have the whole thing, but when you feed crix. i would take him/her out and put him/her in a smaller container/cage and feed in there. Around 5-10 mins until they get thier fill of crix, then put him/her back in it's cage.
The sand debate is a big one some people will use it some won't, there is "risks" associated with certain substrates. I would personaly research all possibilities and form your own opinion.
Here's a link to a thread we had a while back if you would like to read it.
