My bp took a second small live rat tonight (YAY!!), but now I'm curious...
When should I start trying stunned and/or f/k?

i'd try right away if it was me..
I had 3 ball pythons that all they ate was live, and 2 of them took f/t right away after i got them..
just use tongs and make the prey item look alive to the snake. Kinda like making it dance, and if the snake takes it and coils it, just use the tongs again to grab a piece of the rat to make it seem like the rat is still struggling.. It worked for me, its deffinitely worth a shot..

Well this one would eat f/t mice once I finally got her eating, but unfortunatley, has never shown much interest in f/t rats. The only reason she ever got live was to get her skinny *** eating after her winter fast. But now, she won't take the f/t. At least not yet, anyway.
I know the frustration. My BP will eat f/k rats but not f/t (grrrr). I can't quite figure out how she can tell the difference, as I try to warm the f/t ones up to the same temp as a f/k one would be, but she shows absolutely no interest unless they are f/k in which case she is on them in a flash.

ok- i thought i knew what F/T meant (frozen thawed?) but now you are saying F/K. Am i right about f/t and what is f/k? Sorry Im a newbie to sanke forums.
I feed my snake stunned medium rats by the way. ive tryed frozen ones a few times and he wouldnt take to them.

Well, if she will eat f/k that would be great. I keep a close eye when I feed her live, and always control the head of the rat with the tongs while she is constricting. F/T would be great, but one step at a time I guess. She has taken f/t mice before, but has refused every f/t rat I've offered. Tonight is feeding night, so maybe I'll get 2 rats. Feed her one live, and wack the other one and throw it in the freezer and try it next feeding. Maybe it's the F/t rat that is actually the problem. Hmmm......
RX7,
F/K = Fresh killed.
