Anyone working with Indonesian Tree Boa, Candoia c. carinata?

Someone asked me about them and I hadn't heard of them. Does anyone here work with them or know something about them?

Funny Trevor you should ask about these guys as I was holding one of my newly acquired pair of carinata.;) There is not much out there regarding info, and I hope to get these going down stream.

Here's what I have discovered so far.

Adult Length: 18-24"
Avg Temps: 82-83 deg, apparently don't tolerate high heat
Temperment: Docile
Feed Frequency: 10-14 days
Semi-Arboreal
Slow growers
Overhead heating appears to be best. Mist the tank once or twice a week.
Breeding is best with a trio of 2.1 or even 3.1
Too bad I only picked up 1.1
I was told they can be kept together but this goes against my practices.

Correct me anyone if incorrect. They are ugly as sin, but they have a REALLY COOL head on them and they are surprisingly strong from their size.

I just picked mine up at the show, so I will let you know how I make out with these little guys. They are in full quarantine, externally appear to be healthy (no ticks or mites) and are currently under a flagyl and panacur program

No doubt they are unique ;)

Also to note, apparently sexing can be done by visual and there is no need to probe or pop. The males have two small spurs. This appears to be consistent with the results we got when they were popped at the show

Good stuff Jim, thanks for posting. I have a chance to get a pair of WCs but I don't think I'm going to bother. I have too much to do now with my clean animals let alone trying to clean up some WC. I tell you what. When you produce them I'll be your first customer.

I saw jwsporty carrying those nice snakes outside the show! They were sooooo unique looking! Their heads were so small and looked just like a leaf. Amazing.

Hey there,,,these are one of my favorte snakes i have a 1.1 orange pair of solomon island tree boas and wow so docile and awesome,,and love the color change they do,also have isabels boas which are same group of candoia and a viper boa,,well not as docile lol...I also have a group on yahoo that i just started last week on candoia,,,so cool,,Jerry conways site is awesome on these you can access it off kingsnake.

Glad I found this as someone just dropped one off at our Reptile Rescue. Neither of us has ever seen one before, but it appears to be EXACTLY as the one in the photos above. Thanks for the info!

That thing is amazing! I keep many Solomon Island Ground Boas (Candoia Carinata Paulsoni) and love all Candoia ssp. I have a trio of Santa Isabels as well. All of the above mentioned that look like it (viper boa, SIGB. etc) are also Candoia, that is why they look alike! ;)
