Thought I’d post some pictures from last years Fall rattlesnake count.

Also thought I’d add a bit of commentary. Pretend it is a slideshow :)

Part of the crew heading down to the dens in the morning.

Everyone is looking for signs of rattlers. Still a bit early.

I’m not sure why we are down here. That is not prime snake habitat, and we have to walk back up the hill to find some.

Found 1 (first of 60 some)

Jordan found another one, and is trying to hypnotize it with his glare.

Wildlife photographer Barry Miller brought a big lens out this day. His shots are incredible, he gave us a 2 slideshows Saturday evening – amazingly awesome photography.

Rick Van Veen, world traveller, Herpetologist, Australian based: First time observing the rattlesnakes of Canada. Rick also gave us an amazing slideshow showcasing some of his travels and the reptiles he’s worked with from around the world.

A motley crue: Barry, Jordan, Rick, Jonothan Wright, and me: note Jonothan and the rustic wear - Rattlesnake Dundee’s duh name mate.

Group shot of most of us by Leader’s rattlesnake statue

A better shot of our statue (it’s for sale, we wanna get one that doesn’t look like a wet sock), Jonothan, his hat, and his dog Gus (which can be mistaken for a little injured antelope).
We hope to get Jonothans famed Bullsnake slideshow at the spring or fall count.

I’ll post more pictures of some of the animals we saw in the next few days.

The 2004 spring mother’s day count will be attended by people from Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan (of course), Alberta and British Columbia. In the fall we hope to have some of our U.S friends attend.

For more information about attending this years spring Rattlesnake count – view the following link.
