well i USED to have a beautiful pair of viatnamese blue beauties. today she died while i was giving her a soak in the tub.:( i have done this many times with all my snakes and have never had a problem.when i started to examine the body i noticed 9 lumps in her abdomin. Now i had thought this particular snake was the male. At least that is what I was told when I bought them so I was evan more upset. I decided to take a look at the eggs inside to confirm 100% that it was indeed the female and that they were eggs. Well it turns out she had 9 eggs inside her that i put into the incubator. But i give them a 0.5% chance of survival.so now i have a male, no female, and 9 eggs that will never hatch. This day sucks.Check the classifieds if you want a male or have an adult female to sell. Oh and i won't be soaking them in the tub again.

i just soak all my animals. to keep them hydrated aswell as good skin condition and give them some exercise. I dont think the water was to warm it was almost like she gave up the ghost and did the kamakaze thing.no other snake has ever had a problem before including her.I'm so confused.

Soaking them for exercise is definitely not a good idea. When soaking a snake, you should only use enough water that the snake doesn't have to float or swim to stay above the water level.....they will get exhausted after so long and potentially drown.....which is what I suspect happened in this case. I'm very sorry for your loss, and hopefully you've learned a valuable lesson.

The other problem could have been that the water was too warm. Even though I know you said you didn't think it was, it should be just barely above tepid, even though that feels kind of cool. Any warmer than that, and they can die.

Anyway, sorry for your loss. I'd love the male, but I'm in the US. Probably better to find a buy in Canada.

Snake is dead, it is a tragic loss.

Doesn't really matter if it was a mistake or an accident - It sucks to lose a snake. Sometimes they just die.

Sorry to hear of your loss. I know understand why you PM'd me. There are at least 2 2003 VBBs that were produced by me here in Calgary at a local petstore(s) & I'm hoping to produce again here this year (eggs soon I hope?) & I think Katt may produce them too so you can always snag up some young girls. They do grow extremely fast & are one of the few female snakes that can be safely bred at 1.5 years based on their size & growth rate. Mark
P.S. double check the sex of that "male" maybe it was sexed wrong & you will have some luck to balance out your loss?

Sorry to hear about your loss, but please take solace in the fact that I have learned something today. I have been afraid to soak my animals because I have never known how deep or how warm.
