perlite will work.

We use perlite when that happens to us....you may find it harder to make the "dents" for the eggs to place them in the container, takes a bit more patience but is just as good as vermiculite.

I don't have beardies, but use peatmoss for a lot of gecko eggs. My preference is to use ceramic soil for incubating all eggs, but peat works well too.

Thanks everyone. The eggs were all dud's :(

Megan: they were from Kiyomi. She has 19 this time. Not one was fertile :( Guess she didn't retain any sperm. Twas a great disappointment.

Same thing, even the same brand I use. In Europe it's sold as Seramis (though it might be a different brand). I use it for all eggs now, soft and hard shelled. It's re-usable, can be boiled/baked/sterilized until the cows come home. I usually pitch it after the second year, don't know why, I just do. This year I've run out, and the supply won't be in for a few weeks, so I'm using my old standby, peat moss. It's made me realize how good it is to use ceramic, it's so much easier to tell the humidity just by looking at it.

The Aquatic Pond Soil is also the same as Turface, same manufacturer, same product, just packaged for a different use. Turface is for soil conditioning on sports fields, golf courses etc, and a lot cheaper than the pond soil.

This is what the stuff looks like (with a hatchling leo to add interest - kind of like the models in car ads ;) )
