I dont think so, i may be wrong, i have yet to build my own enclosure.

I personally prefer Melamine as well, as it is somewhat lighter i find..

all partical board no matter what its called is a bad idea. They break apart easly, don't do well with humidity over the long run compaired to plywood and they release more gases because of the higher glue and curing agents.
go with plywood 5/8 or thicker, it will last longer and if stained looks nicer. Iv'e used ply for 20 + years and never had a problem other than getting stuff too thin, and even then not much of a problem other than a few tight doors.

I've also used melamine and it works great. It it's built well, and properly sealed, there is no chance of it taking in moisture. Melamine is easy to work with, durable, cheap, doesn't need to be sealed, sealed, and then sealed a few more times to ensure water-tightness and it's terribly versatile. In my opinion, it's the way to go.
